ps4 case modding

Make far more sense to put it into a custom case than modding the PS4 itself as its got complete EMI shields on both top and bottom for directing airflow. What the OP is suggesting isnt going to be effective - really should look at a teardown...

ps3ud0

the thing that made me want to do this (other than my ps4 getting too warm for my liking) was, i searched youtube for ps4 fan mods and there is 1 a guy made on his, which is what im basically copying and he had a temp device showing atleast 20 degrees in difference around different areas of his console after doing it.

Sounds like a truly terrible idea. If the heat is actually causing performance issues then get in touch with either Sony or the retailer and get a replacement under warranty. If the heat isn't causing a performance issue then it's not worth bothering. Consoles are very tightly designed, they're not custom PCs that can just be chopped and changed, a 20 degree difference in temperature (which I find to be a bit of an exaggeration) isn't going to improve performance at all. It's not as if you're overclocking it and need to keep the temperature down in order to squeeze out a few extra MHz.

warranty is void anyway, i removed the stickers to look inside

not necessarily you could say an electrical engineer removed them to tell you that the ps4 died from a manufacturing flaw ;)

they would then ask to see the report which you could pay an engineer to do for you.

sounds like a plan but, i dont know if it would hold any weight with the case modded to alow for better airflow.

In which case the 'engineer' would have to prove he is qualified :p

Either way, OP, you havnt done anything smart opening your ps4 up. Do you remove your car bonnet to allow for better airflow as your car engine gets hot?

ppl can say what they will on the matter wether positive or negative but , regardless im still going to do the mod. i dont have a car anyway and for the record i wouldnt do that if i did, mayby a bonnet scoop would be in order ... lol

the show will commence when i post up the pics of it being done and with a before and after.

This could get interesting... I'm off to swap all of my warranties for fans.

What happens if during your well thought out modification you then break your PS4?

im not actually touching the fan, im putting a hole in the ps4's outer shell thats directly over/under the internal fans location and fitting an 80mm filter on said location, so instead of the ps4 circulating hotter air, there will be cooler air coming in from outside of it.

i have done fan mods before , 1 on my current ps3 and some to a couple of 360's in the past, i know i have to be cautious.
