i want to mod my ps4 case to cut a hole and use some mesh over it and a pc fan grill so it will be a lot cooler. what would i need to start this?
dremel, fan, wire mesh, glue?
honestly wouldnt, youd ruin your warrenty.
Extensive Sony R&D no match for a Blue Peter-ist armed with a Dremel, blue tack, chicken wire and some sticky tape.
Make far more sense to put it into a custom case than modding the PS4 itself as its got complete EMI shields on both top and bottom for directing airflow. What the OP is suggesting isnt going to be effective - really should look at a teardown...

So what? If it dies within its warranty period, you get it replaced. If you still feel the need to mod it after that then do so, but voiding the warranty in an attempt to prevent it from failing is just silly.
Sounds like a truly terrible idea. If the heat is actually causing performance issues then get in touch with either Sony or the retailer and get a replacement under warranty. If the heat isn't causing a performance issue then it's not worth bothering. Consoles are very tightly designed, they're not custom PCs that can just be chopped and changed, a 20 degree difference in temperature (which I find to be a bit of an exaggeration) isn't going to improve performance at all. It's not as if you're overclocking it and need to keep the temperature down in order to squeeze out a few extra MHz.
not necessarily you could say an electrical engineer removed them to tell you that the ps4 died from a manufacturing flaw
they would then ask to see the report which you could pay an engineer to do for you.
Fear & Loathing style
Then you got Captain Planet wrong because underneath the straight exterior, he is a contrived, sanctimonious, narcissist. The power is not yours!
In which case the 'engineer' would have to prove he is qualified
Either way, OP, you havnt done anything smart opening your ps4 up. Do you remove your car bonnet to allow for better airflow as your car engine gets hot?
Well, best of luck in any case. Don't screw it up or you'll be left with quite a pricey, next-gen paperweight!
This could get interesting... I'm off to swap all of my warranties for fans.
What happens if during your well thought out modification you then break your PS4?
or just take the whole bottom of it off and be done with it

Post some pics.
Isn't the fan etc on the underside of the pcb? if so cutting a hole on top will do no good you will have to stand it up
