PSP

I love mine atm after it was sat in it's case for a long time due to crap all or really poor games, there are quite a few excellent games on the system now.

And with Crisis Core out today in the states get one and import that game if you like FF7.

whats the combat like is it turn based or have they ruined it?

Question i have regards remote play.

Lets assume i have some videos of films SD and HD on a PS3

How and what is playback like if you remote play - PSP but then output to a TV via PSP with the component cables?
Is it 4:3 or something daft, is quality hampered?

According to the rules it's been made real time but you still select you materia/block/escape etc.

You only play as Zack so it would be pretty boring in turn based so I think they made the right choice.

fair enough, still gonna buy it, if i do buy a psp later today:)

If you've got a PS3, then remote play is superb, be even better when the freeview tuner for the PS3 comes out.

Can stream all my media, movies, music and photos to my psp via PS3.

Can it do that when you're out and about, or only within range of the wireless network. If it is the latter, what is the point?

I think your going to needa wireless network. If your ont he train for example you get free free wireless , you could be watching all your films etc

MGS: Portable Ops is great, probably even for people who aren't fans of the series.

Final Fantasy Tactics is good too. The PSP versions of Final Fantasy I and II are worth it if you're an FF geek. Plus there's Crisis Core coming out soon. If you're a serious FF fan a PSP is a must (but so is a DS :D).

I just bought a PSP today and while I await my 4Gb memory stick/pandora for the homebrew side of things I tried remote play and I couldn't believe how awesome it was.

Anyway I know the PS3 fans stay on slightly if you have remote start on but is this 100% safe to leave on 24/7? Just to make sure.

Well your pretty lame, God of War Chains of Olympus is awesome

:D

I use my PSP every week and I love it. It does everything but collect dust :)

I bought one before Christmas last year as I wanted to watch movies on it and there weren't many great games out for it at the time but I knew they were coming.

God of War is incredible, it's such an amazing game for the system and I am surprised how great the controls have transferred onto the PSP from the PS2.

There are many great games for it now, MPO, FF Tactics, PES2008 (it's good if your just wanting a quick game of PES every now and then, Patapon, Lumines and Wipeout Pure to name a few.

I actually use it much more than my DS now and I don't use Homebrew, which is surprising.

Seem to be having one of these threads once a week! I don't use mine a lot. But the homebrew side of things is amazing.

Do you mean that the fan is on whilst the system is in remote start mode (ps3 is physically off with WOL waiting to be activated, indicated by green LED) or when you are using it (i.e. Whilst you remote control).

I am fairly sure the fan is not on when it is in remote start mode (off waiting to be activated). I will have to enable it and stick my ear next to the console tomorrow to check (too tired now, only answered your post as you asked twice :)). I have no reason to believe the main system is "on" so think you could leave it in a wakeable state for ages safely.

Nah I mean when the PS3 is off waiting to be activated. :)

It's hard to hear but the standby light is still red the fan can be heard though, the noise is nothing I just mean is it fit for 24/7 to stay like this?

It saves me a bit of time, can just browse and download stuff using the PSP instead of having to change channels to my PS3 and use a controller :). (TV = PC monitor too!)

When my PS3 is in remote start mode on standby (off but being able to be started with my PSP) the fan is on and audible late at night, that is the reason I stopped using this.

It is propably perfectly safe to leave it like this but the disadvantages are it uses more power and a fan has a fixed lifespan so running it 24/7 will mean the fan has a higher chance of failing.

As for the PSP itself, I love it, currently I am playing Final Fantasy IX, Final Fantasy VII and Final Fantasy VII: Crisis Core, Gran Turismo 1, Wipeout Pure and use it to listen to MP3's and sometimes check an internet news site.

I can confirm the fan does stay on and it was enough for me to switch it off again but to each his own. I often read in my living room and don't like any noise even the whisper of the PS3 fan in standby mode. Also I used internal connection but I couldn't even use it from my living room to bedroom 5 meters away. I couldn't for the life of me get it to work via wireless connection but BTH didn't read too much into that side of things.

mods is it okay to mention pimpstreamer? its a free program some guy made and lets you stream video files/music/pics etc straight to the psp from your pc :)

the file format can be pretty much any thing as the pc side of the program decodes and encodes while sending a stream to the psp it doesn't half eat cpu cycles on the pc though :)

strife212 ff7 crisiscore has been in english since march just import the american version since the psp is region free for games :)
