*Psst* in here...

What brings the hate toward the Apple crowd is rampant fanboyism. Which is a problem with any people who identify with a product. There's nothing more annoying, particularly in the Linux crowd, than people who believe (I'm looking at you RMS) that an operating system or the hardware you run it on should be a political and cultural lifestyle choice.

If you buy an Apple product because you believe it's cool, you're a tool. If you buy a competing product because you believe it to be an adequate anti-cool to the perceived coolness of Apple, you're an even bigger tool.

Totally agree.

I hate Apple fanboys but would still happily own another iPhone/iPod if they were competitively priced or offered something that Android phones didn't.

I'm happy to not own any Apple products at the moment as that leaves me out of the overly joyful crowd of unfunny apples.

I'm disgusted at the amount of distasteful iPhone owners you get over your head if you make fun of the Apple products/brand/movement or SteveJ.

Whatever feature or lack of thereof you criticize of an Apple product in these and other Forums, you're attacked by flamboyant fanboys getting all defensive about their toys like it was their family or something personal.

I'm an Apple user (iMac, MBP, iPhone4) and got slated in the Apple sub forum for saying I didn't like the iPhone 4 for not having a dual core CPU. And I still don't like it because I feel it could have done with a dual core CPU and I dislike those little instances of lag. I said a dual core would much improve this. Slated.

Now that the iPad 2 is using a dual core CPU, it's inevitable that the next iPhone is going to get it. And all the people that slated me, proclaiming that the iPhone did not need a dual core CPU are going to be the very ones proclaiming "OMG THIS IS JUST WHAT WE NEEDED! GOOD WORK STEVE!".

It's tough if you like Apple products with an open mind (eg. you can be critical of them), you'll get called an Apple fanboy AND slated by the Apple fanboys. Tiresome.

For me they're tools, not lifestyle or political choices. It would be like arguing whether Snap-On or Black & Decker is superior. Both have their pluses and minuses. But they'll both have something that'll remove a cupboard door. The problem arises if you decide to buy a hammer to remove said door when a screwdriver would suffice.

Really? They are currently giving the impression that 'the cloud' is a new apple feature as well.

Sorry, I wasn't suggesting Apple were passing something old of as new. My issue was that iAds is crap and not something of benefit to users.

New iphone4

- Retina Screen - woo
- Better camera - ahh
- iAds - sucky mcsucky

Thankfully, the only application I've encountered with iAds has been the free version of the Twitterrific app. Which I purchased anyway (which removes the ads) as it's my favourite twitter app (on iOS and OS X).

As for "iCloud". I don't care what Steve Jobs says. It IS just a hard drive in the sky. All they're doing is taking out the installation, configuration and complicated use of multi-device syncing for users who aren't particularly technically inclined.

Though, there'll be a **** storm when it inevitably gets hacked. And it will inevitably end up hacked.

Agreed. If someone buys an Apple product it's not a political choice or a lifestyle choice - it's because they're a tool. :D

Joking aside, if I buy a tablet it will probably be an iPad because my main use for it will be online board gaming and that's where the apps are. I will, however, take great glee in committing a glorious act of miscegenation by using my Android phone as a wifi hotspot for it.

In all fairness though, that is not entirely true. I mean, whilst they may very well not be above presenting borrowed ideas as new features (such as how the changes to iBooks only really match what Kindle was doing anyway), they did acknowledge the cloud as an existing concept. Its just that existing implementation of it was written off (fairly or otherwise) as a hard drive in the sky.

I'd take apple fanboys over Microsoft fanboys any day. Apple fanboys are just lol... as the comic shows.

Now look at the comments on Neowin for any Bing vs Google or Android vs WP7 "article". I didn't know MS fanboys even existed until I scrolled through the comments on there. It's quite sad.

The fact that the thread in the Apple forum was locked almost upon creation is quite lol worthy, just goes to show who the real fanbois are if people can't even have a bit of a laugh.

I can almost imagine the train of thought...

"How dare they insult Sir Jobs the Almighty!! Thread must be locked immediately"

Quite pathetic, I might go post a picture of a ladder so they can climb down off the high horse.

Much as I may hold the fanbois in contempt, the train of thought in the Apple forum had nothing to do with any offence caused to Skeletor. The mods were correct to lock the thread because Electroshadow was blatantly trolling.

Perhaps but the same holds true if Robbo had have posted it in there in the first place, Robbo is far from a troll and holds Apple products in high regard yet he can see the funny side of it.

Well, no, because trolling is when you deliberately post something inflammatory in order to get a rise out of someone. If Robbo posted it there because he thought it was funny and wanted to share, then it would just be a joke that fell flat.
