I have just ordered an HD 7950 to add to my new build which consist of,

i5 3570k
Z77-D3H
8gb corsair vengeance
120Gb SSD
1Tb sata 3
DVD RW
Powercool 550w modular PSU

After speaking to members on here i now realise that psu is a cheap generic psu and needs to be replaced which i will be doing in 2 weeks time. What i want to ask is will i be ok running that system with the HD7950 for a couple of week on that psu until i get to order a new one in a couple of weeks time?
Are the chances that if i do and run graphical hungery games I'll just get crashes and shut downs as the psu wont be able to deliver enough power? Or could it be more serious? I have just phoned the supplier of the powercool psu from where i purchased it and they said if the psu does go down and take out any other components it will be covered under warranty.
Thanks

Better to be safe than sorry, I wouldn't trust a company like that either, especially with an expensive card like that

One other thing. when i Do order new PSU what's minimum wattage i should go for. Only things on it other than stated would be 5 led case fans and i want to add a fan controller and Overclock both the gpu and cpu. also which make of psu should i go for.

i think it will be a good while down the road before ill be thinking about duel cards as Im hoping my new system will be adequate for gaming for quite a while. so when it comes to it ill prob just look at upgrading both then.

The Z77-D3H doesn't do Xfire properly anyway. You would want the Z77X-D3H which runs both the PCI-E lanes in sync (X8 & X8). So 500/550W is ample really for a single GPU setup.

YOUR BASKET
1 x OCZ ZT 550W '80 Plus Bronze' Modular Power Supply £63.98
Total : £74.48 (includes shipping : £8.75).

Nothing wrong with Idlemans suggestion other than it's not in stock and no ETA. The OCZ ZT has a 5 year warranty and is fully modular. Makes it much easier to remove the unit from the case to clean it out. The coolermaster is semi-modular so the 24pin and P4/8 cable are hardwired
