PSU comparision

Just wanted to know if theres a big difference between these 2 PSU'S

Apart from the voltage and price, is there a big difference in fan noise on the corsair to the Antec?

The Corsair fan won't kick in until it hits 40% or so of power. Its also modular and gold rated. If you're thinking of getting either, read this first

my understanding is that larger psus with dynamic fan profiles tend to be quieter due to the lower % of full rating being used..

You're comparing apples to pears really...
The corsair model got a good review on TPU, but the reviewer mentioned that the fan curve is rather aggressive, meaning it will kick in rather late.

It did achieve a very good score on silence.

The RM series aren't particularly well built compared to competition however; if you are looking for a fairly silent one, look at fanless Seasonic and SuperFlower PSUs, or cheaper the EVGA G2/SuperFlower Leadex and Golden Green PSUs, of which the Leadex and G2 have hybrid modes also like the RM but have better internals with all Japanese capacitors etc
