Yes. :p

I just only allow it to ring me and then have everything else off.

I was really excited for it too but got nothing :(

I'll show you what you missed.

It was a great day out for the family and friends as we went to a really busy area and all waited with baited breath for the alert and sound to come.
Poor old Brian wet himself with excitement and Tin Foil Mary jumped down a 800ft well.

Also on GiffGaff (signal usually fine here) and didn't get an alert. My phone is ridiculously old though (android 7.0), so could potentially be that too!
I am on GiffGaff and did get it. My phone is much more modern though and is using the latest Android version.

I got the alert at 09:30 Monday morning ! Phone had been turned off since Friday and I turned it on at 09:00 Monday.

As far as I'm aware this 100% should not have alerted.

Potentially?

Definitely. It needed Android 11 or later.
from the website:

Emergency alerts work on:

  • iPhones running iOS 14.5 or later
  • Android phones and tablets running Android 11 or later
If you have an earlier version of Android, you may still be able to receive alerts. To check, search your device settings for ‘emergency alerts’.

So, as others have said, some of the communication around this could have been clearer!

A question I have is lets say a big event (something that would annoy millions of voters) is ongoing that would be extremely embarrassing to effectively cancel if an alert went off and it ended up being a mistake, would the people in charge have the gravitas to do it anyway regardless?

I'd like to say the answer is yes regardless of my deep-seated cynicism about the people in power, but I dunno...

You mean the few seconds before that bishop lowers the crown on Charles's head? Yeah that'd be funny as hell
