Hi
You are allowed in a pub, from 16 arn't you? Just obviously not allowed to drink (alcohol)? Do pubs normally chuck out under 18s anyway, esp on friday nights/sat nights? I know i've been in pubs during lunchtimes etc, they don't seem to care, but going this weekend probably, and I know they have chucked some of my mates out for being udner age. Just wondering if its *just * because they are under 18, or because they tried to order drinks (i'm not sure how they got chucked out)

If not - how can you look a year older ;)??

Thanks

Some pubs like to chuck you out. Something to do with being a "Family" pub, apparently they're fine for all peeps. Others normally aren't.

It depends on the pub's license and personal policy. Young people of a certain age may be allowed in a designated family area where alcohol isn't served but may be consumed in, or anywhere in the pub if the license permits.

I think its actually up to the landlord of the pub.. they don't have to let you stay if they don't want to. Some do and some don't.

What most of you are gettin mixed up with is the difference between private clubs and pubs.

Different set of rules for both.

depends on the type of pub i guess. nice family one in a nice location would be ok, unlike say a pub near a council estate.

they will usually ask you for ID and chuck you out after about 8pm regardless of whether your tring ot order drinks or not, for a coulpe reasoons I guess 1. your taking up valuable sapce that could be used by customers buying booze which costs more, 2.sometimes us younguns get rowdy or something stupid like that and old people dont like us so they complain so pubs chuck you out just to stop any fuss

On a sort of related note - Do you have to be 21 to buy spirits in supermarkets these days?
I got asked for ID (I had none on me) in Asda and the Co-Op when I went to buy a bottle of vodka, they refused to serve me and I'm nearly 23.

No you dont have to be 21, most shops nowadays have a "think 21 policy" basically means if you look under 21 they will ID you, if you dont have it they will refuse the sale. ( I work at waitrose) :p

I reckon i look my age other people think i look older i don't know i never have any problems but i don't really drink a lot.

You could look a few years older by getting an older boyfriend ;)

Heh, yeh, true :(
I might go out and buy a cheap but expensive looking silver watch from the market ( ), maybe some cheap necklace chain, i'll go a bit chavvy, might make me look a bit older. :p Either that or i'll end up going in some baggy torn up jeans, a hoody, and one of those "fashionable" german jackets ;) which just makes me look younger.. Meh. Piercing on friday probably, might make me look older. Or just more stupid.

I dunno about the technicalities of the laws, but i really doubt you'll have much luck staying in a pub for very long on a Friday or Saturday night, especially if its a chain.
