I got ID'd on my 21st:D My gf is 22 and she got ID'd for buying a scratch card a while back!
My friend is 27 and he gets id'd everytime we go out, i'm 17 and i just walk in. I did get id'd 3 times buying cigarettes but i was in my school uniform for one of those time and the other two were by the same woman in a co-op.

No you dont have to be 21, most shops nowadays have a "think 21 policy" basically means if you look under 21 they will ID you, if you dont have it they will refuse the sale. ( I work at waitrose) :p
Oh well it was their loss, I popped into a Budgens enroute home and they didn't bat an eyelid.

I might go out and buy a cheap but expensive looking silver watch from the market ( ), maybe some cheap necklace chain, i'll go a bit chavvy, might make me look a bit older. :p Either that or i'll end up going in some baggy torn up jeans, a hoody, and one of those "fashionable" german jackets ;) which just makes me look younger.. Meh. Piercing on friday probably, might make me look older. Or just more stupid.

Trust me if your not 18 you will get ID'd everywhere now, they have put the bar staff to be liable for fines if they server under 18's.

Some woman tried to explain to me that I might be eligable for cheaper travelling on my oyster card if I got a childrens one (which IIRC is max of 15) the other day - I'm 20 :( :( oh the shame

i've been going out since i was 15/16 and have only EVER been refused beer (and never refused entry) once, but ID'd about 5 times (this is a regular once or twice a week going out thing too :x). The time i got refused it probably didnt help that i just nipped to a pub near me scruffy as hell and half asleep just wanting some grub and a pint, trying to pay in silvers as I was skint :D:p

Suppose it's all dependant on the person, I get told i don't look my age and often have a harder time convincing people of my real age rather than my real age +2 or 3

Tom.

Nononono, not the way to do it!

When you're underage, you do everything in your power to look older.

As soon as you hit 18, you have legit ID, and you end up going down the pub in your oldest jeans and layabout sweater.

So to look the right age, just dress relaxed and normal, like.

(hahahah I couldn't add my own smiley to this post because you'd already hit the image limit, Chron!)

Very rarely do I not get ID'd. I'm lucky enough to look young. Of course that was an unlucky thing before I was 18. It's not too much of a problem showing some ID when I go somewhere but I suppose it's a little annoying when everyone else I'm with just walks straight in and they single me out.

I get IDed quite often, i'm 19 but don't look it. I go the pub near me quite often and i've been bought drinks and no ones said anything.

by trying to order drinks at a pub/bar when under 18 you are braking the law, the publican has the right to throw you out FOR ANY REASON, it is HIS space.
he COULD have you arrested for trying this.

citizens arrest?
ok so he could get the police to, but you knew I ment that.

[ninja edit]
actualy, "have you arrested", as I wrote, insinuates that it is not HIM/HER doing the arrest, but that someone else is doing the arresting at the order/request of the publican.

Went to a pub for mate's birthday on saturday night, she got drunk and kicked out, I went to see how she was and got IDed on the way back in.. I had spent 3hrs in there already!

Then we went to another pub and I got IDed.

Not my usual saturday night, I was hoping to go to a club, I am 26 btw.

I will be thankful in 10 years time I am sure.

:)

Nobody is ever going to be arrested for trying to buy a drink in a pub. Even if they phoned up the police they'd probably never turn up - and are you just meant to sit there waiting for the police to turn up to arrest you? I wouldn't like to physically restrain someone until the police arrive...

Yup they'd be breaking the law, and yet people can still make a thread or a post about how they done it on this forum, where as if I made a thread say about getting round copy protection it'd be deleted straight away.

Oh the joys of double standards in society. :p
