Punk/Emo/Indie Bands?

For ska I'd recommend:

[Spunge]
Catch 22

Also you tried listening to bands like The Kooks, Clay Your Hands Say Yeah, Subways and The Rakes? All of which are god IMO.

/waits for Carzy to list 8,000,000 bands :)

Can't I'm afraid! I'm in London at the moment, and therefore without my music collection to reference :( Gonna have to sit this thread out :p Plus I'd spend too much time listing on such a broad basis of "Punk/Emo/Indie" :p

Why just earlier stuff? Worlds Apart is phenomenal.
Au contraire, mon amis! Worlds Apart and The Secret of Elena's Tomb are sinfully boring when compared to their second and third albums (although I'll give you that the first one is pretty poor). It's painfully bombastic and overblown... urgh. Give me ST&C any day!

Some suggestions...

Anberlin
The Juliana Theory
Emery
Chiodos
The Movielife
Tokyo Rose
Cartel
Story of the Year
Circa Survive
Midtown

.

Damn you.

arctic monkeys
arcade fire
maximo park
we are scientists
bloc party
interpol
franz ferdinand
the killers
kaiser chiefs

pick of those - interpol, bloc party, arctic monkeys

Not to derail the thread, but can people recommend some emo/punk/indie/dance/trance/ska/metal/pop/classical songs?

Thrice - 'The Earth Will Shake'

:p

Nah not really but no one had mentioned Thrice for the OP, and the new album Vheissu (sp?) is absolutely stunning. Go buy it! Now!

Don't know who it was who recommended I listen to Sparta on another thread - but cheers :D
Quality stuff!

If you like Sparta you should really, really check out At The Drive-In - the band which spawned Sparta. Start with Relationship of Command (eg. Cosmonaut, One Armed Scissor, Roladex Propaganda, Invalid Litter Dpt.) and move on to In/Casino/Out (Lopsided, For Now We Toast, Chanbara, Hula Hoop Wounds)

The recommendation was on the basis that I liked ATDI and Mars Volta :p

Cheers anyway though ;)

you might like capdown. everyone likes capdown. and farse. they're more ska bands though, but give them a listen as a low priority. they're a lot of fun, and i hate punk.
