Pupils on strike over short skirt ban

Forgetting that unforgivable picture  I agree with the school. Girls these days have too much sex in their heads and absolutely no respect for themselves or their image at all.

I was recently speaking to a friend who has a niece at high school - she was appalled after hearing that the students try to provoke the teachers, sexually and the general foul language used was disgraceful.

They're at school to learn, not flaunt bodies.

We've created a contemporary society where sexuality = status. All you have to do is look in a Heat magazine to see this point.

Children should not be allowed to dictate what they will and won't wear at school: who do they think they are? ....... the usual case of knowing their rights but taking no responsibility for their actions.

If you had a daughter of ~ 13, would you let her dress in such a manner? I would not even allow that sort of skirt for outside school, never mind inside.

I think I need to see a pic of every single girl in a short skirt before I make judgement. Those 2 in the article are doing much for me.

Yeah :) It's there wether I agree with it or not. Some form of respectable dress code should be put in place for girls as young as that though.

I agree, but the underlying issue will still be there won't it? They'll still grow up and throw it around because it's the 'cool' thing to do and they think they're more important for doing so, blind to the personal and social damage they cause. Educating girls this young about the social issues which they're so sensitive to (status, etc.) is difficult as they're often too young to understand themselves fully, let alone begin to fathom philosophical musings on self. Meanwhile, we have an economic system which has found a way of making money off of their ignorance and instinct. It's a little brash to suggest we remove magazine such as Heat, as at first glance they seem pretty harmless - but the fact remains that such magazines, combined with the 'MTV culture' are contributing to this particular mess.

Now, not all youngsters are this sensitive to popular culture, but the fact remains that it has now become just that - popular culture - and thanks to things like rap videos et al. we now have to put up with this.

Anyway why is anyone bothered about these two not going back to school? they'll only waste the teachers time and end up in free council houses with 4 each children by the time they're 20 anyway.
