Puppy Broken leg

What? You'd put an animal to sleep even if you didn't have to pay the bill?

Judging by what he's saying. That 11k for a cat seems like it must have been a massive operration/illness. Sometimes it's better not to put them through it. Although need to know all the details to say that's what it was.

Is it both your dog which you chose together as a couple?

Or is it your dog and he was roped into accepting it?

Kind of matters because if you wanted the dog then you should be ready to 100% look after it on your own. If you both wanted the dog then that changes things :)

You seem to palm off the responsibilities to your partner. Why didn't you arrange the insurance if you know he is unreliable?

£100's of pounds for a simple leg x-ray of a puppy? It's a ten second job once it has been mildly anaesthetised. Are you just guessing? If not you need to find another vet. I have 12 dogs and a great vet. No way would the cost of an x-ray be £100's. Hell I have him x-ray race car suspension parts, he's even x-rayed me! Pups bones mend fast, if it's a simple break the whole treatment course should be under £500, well under. From what you say you don't even know it's broken, but you DO need to find out straight away as it will need setting if it is.

Your business partner should pay for it!

Geez what is it with this forum and dodgy business partners, they selling them in pound land or something?

Every time someone refers to their girlfriend/boyfriend as their 'partner' you refer to them as 'business partner'.

Is it a joke, an idealism, or a misunderstanding?

I think it's a joke due to everyone assuming someone's partner was their other half but then it turned out they meant business partner.

Perhaps he dislikes this dreadful, and probably of American origin, term as much as I do. It merely tries to sanitise living over the brush or living in a homosexual relationship. I too go out of my way to "misunderstand" when people use it in conversation with me ;)

Yes all three!

A Joke in misunderstanding SJW Idealism.

Poor puppy, did no one give a seconds thought about the puppies health costs before buying it? So what's the puppy supposed to do now? Walk with a limp and have a bent leg for the rest of its life? Come on have some responsibility yourself as an experienced dog owner for goodness sake.

Really winds me up people having pets and then not getting Vet insurance or putting money aside for any health issues/accidents that may happen. If you don't have the means just don't keep pets!!

Puppies are not toys!!

Sorry to hear about your dog, obviously the most important thing is it gets on the mend, and recovers well.

Wow... That's high.... I'm now dreading the worst. I'm so fuming right now.... I've had dogs since I was 5, from lerchers German shepherd, border collies. Given him so much advice .... But this is the result of not being listened to.
You've had dogs since you were 5, but don't have pet insurance?

Get your affairs in order, income protection, life insurance, pet insurance. No offence but it really seems like you don't know better to get these things.

In fairness there's a lot of negativity at the moment about pet insurance. We have a LOT of dogs and animals and i stopped dedicated pet insurance many years ago. The small print of most policies is Draconian, and many people find they are betrayed by obscure loopholes created to protect the company from seemingly innocuous claims. I have had vets bills only this last month of well over £1800 but overall I am still well ahead without insurance. The fact my vet is car mad and I am in the motor sport engineering game helps, we do have a little trading of professional skills...

I hope the original poster's animal recovers fully, please let us know how it goes. I have somewhat less interest than others here in her personal relationship with her partner though. The recent suicide of some celebrity agony aunt has surely opened a small door for some here to professionalise their desire to interfere and advise? ;)

I don't disagree with this, and like anything pet insurers are as slippery as the rest of the industry, but shopping around isn't hard and there are good insurers out there.

The keenness of vets' to put your dog on a special "scientifically" designed diet food is only matched by the profit margin on the stuff.... Allegedly ;)

I was behind a chap paying for the op to have his son's hamster castrated. "£58 please Sir, a card's fine...".

I asked my pal how long such a procedure would take. Ten minutes, or if it was near opening time at the pub, on a late shift, less than five.

£696 an hour castrating hamsters? Where's the chloroform and the sewing scissors? This way young man, what a handsome rodent you have there.... ;)
