PUSHING FOR 5GHz... i5 CLARKDALE RESULTS

:D Haha.

Are we going to see anything special from the OcUK labs on launch day? Maybe a couple of them in that EVGA board...quad 5970s...? P-p-pretty pleaseeeee. :)

the megahalems is easily the best aircooler i have seen

the H50 isnt a bad choice either but the megahalems does look very swish

[i have to class the h50 as air cooling, i cant bring myself to class it as 'proper' watercooling]

this makes it a good option for people who just do desktop work and dont need 3d graphics

it also does HD output at 1080P so would work great in a HTPC

the fact that the chips work great in their own respect as a dual core mean that if you get a feature packed P55 board then you unlock the prospect of having a high clock speed chip for gaming with that takes advantage of lots of memory bandwidth
you dont need an i7 for gaming, most games run on two-four cores meaning this is still the ideal choice

much like the Q6600 Vs E8500 argument in the core2 days, the same rings true

if you are a gamer that wants out and out core speed and excels in games then go for this

if you want something that performs well and is essentially a multitasker, go for i7

i3 gives you lots of options
and its that flexibility that i think will see it really take off

Im sure the H50 is a better solution to the megahalems

Well thats the first air cooler with a water block, pump and radiator.

Personal prejudice aside, its a water cooler but not as big and expensive as you are accustom too :)

We get very similar performance results with the two on i7 chips, overclock to the same level, cost the same with fan options, produce about the same level of noise etc etc.

Me and Rich have had many a heated debate about the H50-1 and what it is, I am of the camp that it is a watercooling product, enclosed loop and entry level. This means it sits just above the high end air products like the Megahalems. H50-1 is better at getting its heat out of the case not just off the CPU depending on how you configure it.

I could not agree more :)

never, the h50 is a good, functional product however it looks rubbish
half the attraction of computer systems is looks, aesthetics are very important to me both personally and in my work. the fact that the h50 looks so cheap and nasty doesnt do it for me. it does its job and credit to it for that, but it simply doesnt look anywhere near as good as the megahalem.

the megahalem performs better than the h50 in every test i have done, the quality of the product is infinatly superior.

i have always said i would never own another air cooled pc but i would take the megahalem over a h50 every day of the week and twice on tuesday :p

i know i am a hardware snob, but i can never endorse these quick fix watercooling kits, they are just shoddy in my opinion and whilst the h50 is the best of them, it may as well be a thermaltake BigWater as far as i am concerned

Me and Rich have had many a heated debate about the H50-1

the only reason i actually go to work is to argue with Yewen, he is wrong, always :D

WOW...these chips are awesome...they have raised the bar for AMD....i hope they come up with somthing better

The best is yet to come from Intel. :)

The Clarkdale chips are proving to be very reliable and consistant overclockers, still got a warm feeling inside from how they are taking the fight to Intel's own i7 range.
