Putting on Weight

Hello!

I'm 6ft 2" in height and weigh just under 10.5 stones, im quite underweight for my height. I've struggled for years with putting weight on, i eat well and don't even excersise as much as i used to!

Question is, has anyone here experienced this? If so, what have you tried to try and overcome?

Also, Does anybody know of any good high in calorie snack bars?

Put on muscle, not fat. Please.
I've been 6ft 1" and 11Stone for years, no matter what I eat.

5' 11 here, can't put on weight to save my life, was 11 stone for awhile but seem to be dropping back towards 10 atm. Was eating well into the 1000s of cal per say for awhile, while not doing much at all - lot of time spent sitting at the computer at home and work and my weight wouldn't shift at all - even throwing some time on gym and another 1000 calories in there I didn't put on any weight other than a bit more muscle mass.

+1 for eat more pizza.

Cant go wrong with yummy pizza :)

Even £1 frozen ones work, you dont need to spend a fortune on takeaways.

Kash how old are you. I'm 6'4" and didn't start putting weight on until I hit my mid 20's. I was always 12 stone, not 15 stone and getting a belly lol.

I have a HH and my weight never goes above 12 1/2 stone. I miss my younger days, when i hit 30 my weight kept going down. Have to be careful what i eat aswell, sucks

It will catch up with you eventually. I knew someone at school who could eat whatever he wanted excessively and he never put on weight, it caught up with him eventually.

Do you smoke? If so cut that out. Alchohol will do the rest for you. I know some proper fatties who really dont have unhealthy diets aside from epic amounts of beer.

Follow your dreams, you can reach your goals, I'm living proof. Beefcake. BEEFCAKE

Eat what you normally do, but up the portions, and snack whenever possible.

This works, and is what I did when I was just over 9 stone. However, you do become accustomed to the higher food intake, and I am now above the weight I'd like to be at :(

My ex-housemate until about 4 months ago was horrendously skinny - about 5'9" and not even 9 stone. I got fed up of him complaining about illnesses he'd had as a teenager that made him lose weight and that he could never put it back on... how he ate loads but his metabolism was too fast... how he'd been to dieticians and nutritionists who'd put him on special diets that never worked...

I sat him down and got him to tell me what he ate in a day; no breakfast, a pile of terrible fried food or a pizza with half a block of extra cheese on it for lunch (about 1200-1300kcal) and whatever he could fit in around his shift work after that. I made him double his calorie intake, told him what foods he should and shouldn't be eating and got him to space the meals out during the day (including having breakfast). He recently hit 10st for the first time in his life and looks so much better for it.

The biggest obstacle was getting him to eat so much. After a few weeks his appetite naturally increased though and now he has no trouble.

I've always struggled with my weight. I've tried the calorie thing and it doesn't work; there's only a certain amount I can eat in a day and after that I simply don't get hungry. I'm 5'10 and was 9.5 stone until way into my mid twenties.

The only way I've consistently been able to keep weight on is through exercise. Either through doing gym work to beef up or, as I currently do, a lot of running and cycling. But it drops back off when I stop! Cardio seems to naturally bulk up the rest of you a bit, plus the muscle itself seems to be a lot more dense than weight lifting muscle. I'm at the heaviest I've ever been at just under 11 stone now, despite not being the 'biggest' I've been. Plus you can lay into beer, pies and kebabs without having to worry about it.

Could be worse. It's much harder if you're prone to putting on weight, especially as you get older.

Start playing World of Warcraft?

Doesnt work for some people. I can sit on my butt all day eating pizza and not gain any weight.

The only way I gain weight is by fried / lardy food (which is completely banned from my diet), or too much chocolate / cakes (to these, I am addicted :()

Yes, I was a skinny git for years and tried everything to put on weight, I still am really but I've filled out a bit now, my trick was turning 30 seems like a switch was flicked.
So my advice is to turn 30, until then don't worry about it.

Post up an example of what you eat on a daily basis.

You neeed to Start having 4 small healthy meals a day with a good amount of meat on each meal (try to get to about 6 meals a day), drink lots of milk through the day (full fat) And Water. try to lift some weights every few days if you have them so you will have muscle and fat not just fat.
