When controlling pumps and fans with pwm is any heat produced??
Wanting to control 2 pumps on one header and 9 high perf fans on another on my aquaero 6.
There all pwm so will this be an issue??

It rather depends on how the Aquaero implements PWM control but generally PWM control is far more efficient, and therefore produces less heat, than some other voltage regulation techniques.

Personally I wouldn't put a water pump on PWM, but rather link it directly to PSU through molex adaper. so you know 100% its always running, should the PWM for the pump fail for any reason you effectively have no cooling watsoever.

Provided the PWM controller follows standard design it'll cause the pump to run at 100% if it failed.

At low RPMs, the VRMs on the AQ6 can get a bit warm. If you think you will be running <50% power often, get the passive heatsink to be sure.

The number of pumps on the header won't affect the Aquaero since the pumps are being powered directly from the PSU.

Are those 9 fans the Corsair SP120 HPE PWM ones? If so, I got some bad news for you unless you lucked out and have one of the newer batches of the AQ6.

Nah mate there piranha's got loads when they were on offer a while back, how do i know which batch of AQ6??? Only got it bout 2-3 weeks ago

You need to take off one of the stickers on the back. On my phone right now, but search OCN Aquaero owners club and you can find sample photos of the new 47 ohm resistors compared to the 100 on the older one. I think it is below the sticker on the Aquabus ports, not sure.

Edit: Here you go- http://www.overclock.net/t/1474470/ocn-aquaero-owners-club/600_50#post_22271863

You should be fine with the Piranhas, but then again I haven't seen anyone else with PWM Piranhas so you can confirm that for me!

Whats the worst that could happen?? Presuming the AQ will just shut the channel down??

I will have a look which ohm resistors are on mine tomoz.
