Q-tec

Ive heard though the higher Wattage the more stable the Q-TEc becomes? People ive heard whos psu's blew which were Q-tec were in the 400W range..

I think the reason for that is that the higher wattage they can nominally provide the better actual wattage they can provide so if you think of a 550w Q-Tec as being able to supply the same sort of power as a decent 350w you won't be too far off the mark and the lower models offer comparatively less.

No need for that, I was just giving you a heads up - if you would rather be suspended then so be it.

Sorry just bit of a demanding post by your good self, but far as im aware non-text for text likeness is not listing a competitor and there-for no grounds for complaint, any lawyer will tell you so. ;) I could be wrong but that’s what I’ve read.

Less of that please. He's doing you a favor.

As above^ lets not start a 'flame the newb to the forum session' please and get back to the subject matter.

i used to have a qtec, but it became seriously unreliable, i think it was 500 watt but its max output was only like 325 watt I think.

thankfully i've got an antec truepower these days....

And how do you find it? My bro just got one free with he's new case.

yeah, the truepower 550w is great haven't had any problems with it so far, nice stable voltages and good performance

Right talked him out of buying one from some random high street store since the PSU's sub £45 were not required power or un-branded etc. Suggested Seasonic S12 430W Silent or FSP Sparkle FSP400-60 Blue Storm 400W from OCuk, never owned either tbh so does that seem sound advice since many of you rave on about them two brands?

Seasonic is an excellent choice, it is available a little cheaper though

Both seasonic and fsp make some of the best psu's in the market so either one of them should be fine :)

Any lawyer will tell you that this forum is owned by Overclockers and that they can make up whatever rules they like and define them however they like (within reason.) You follow the FAQ or you get warned, you get warned too much or argue back and you get a free holiday, it's simple really.

Anyone want to offer up opinions on Aerocool PSU's. Are they just a rebadged hiper psu

They are pretty good although the 80mm fan in mine is failing after about 8 months :(

Think I’ve helped him enough tbh and will suggest he buys either one of them two mentioned. Thank you to all with the sensible reply’s, much appreciated advice & saves me trolling the entire forum all day for some kind of answer. :)

i had 1 melt on me from the heat, when i say melt, everything that was made of plastice melted and formed long thin dripping bits of plastic, which was a whitish colour, i think it was mainly the fan that melted, also it took the motherboard with it too, which meant i had to buy new mobo, cpu and ram because i was on a pentium back them with rambus, omg rambus now thats a laugh anyone remember RDRAM it was meant to be the dogs nackers but turned out to be the worst invention in pc history
