Q6600 @ 3.8ghz - But plenty BSOD's

the light is pretty bad in my room - dam energy saver bulbs!

Here some more - Also in the last pics, i had to raise the vcore up one more 1.4050v i think it was

And no, you cant zoom in on my bank card, i tried already ;)

i hope someone else can confirm this WJA96, i mean i bought my psu off here last week mainly for my new gtx when i get it, but for safer overclocking. i can hit 3.8ghz with my true easy, but for the high vcore - which i could probably get 3.7ghz-3.75ghz with roughly the vcore you are on now.

update: ive got to 3.6ghz with cpu-z reporting my vcore as 1.460v (2hr prime stable for now). i had to up the vtt a bit and gtlref %, its still possible i can get it back to 3.8ghz which is the sweet spot for me :)

with tjmax 90 i just booted up, pc been off for a few hours and each core is around 15c going by realtemp, it still doesnt seem right to have a quad @ 3.6ghz idle around 15c-25c:eek:

another loss to the toon :(

just read that if you overclock the pci-e frequency from 100mhz it can help overclocks, im going to try 110mhz see if it helps..

ok, so i set the pci-e frequency to 110mhz and low and behold it did have some good, although not sure if it will have a negative effect on anything but with it set at that, im now at 3.7ghz, on a vcore of 1.540v according to cpu-z, its done prime95 since last post seems pretty stable, at least in that short time.

I also noticed setting the pci-e clock from 100mhz to 110mhz give me a couple frame per second quicker, tested on the same 3.6ghz as before.

Give it a go if you have that option, i guess like with anything, dont go crazy and set it something like 180mhz and zap your gfx card :D

So far so good though, im at least 4 vcore options less then i was before at 3.7ghz, but im stuck in the situation of should i pass the 1.55vore mark just for the extra 100mhz? I think i might call it a day @ 3.7ghz - its too tempting though for that extra bit :)

whats your setup rob? ..dont matter, just seen your sig

i know you can use intel burn test, prime95 etc for stress testing - but i honestly would never have my quad running nearly 80% or higher for a long time, under load my cores reach about 47c-50c, its just my vcore is at 1.56v which has not been reccomended, its down to me if i want to increase this i know, i just wish someone would come on here and say 1.6v is fine, i can hit 3.8ghz then:p

WJA96...how many points you got on your license :D

temps are good yeah, im using a true 120 with push/pull config, both high cfm fans up to 97cfm 2000rpm (noisey if turned all the way up!) and i know not to exceed a vtt of 1.4v, 3.7ghz is very good i agree, if theres room for more i see why not. Im also using a GO revision which is the last one/best release.

Im happy going on into the 1.6v range, i just have certain doubts in the back of my mind, especially since ive been told i should only stay between 1.5v-1.55v

I know its only a few mhz more, its just tempting to squeeze it all out:)

It doesnt make a difference anyway what vcore you use, cooling it with air, water or phaser? Its still putting the same volt through it, my temps idle at 34c thats not a problem, just if i should put more volts through it

Edit: the Official SuperPi thread link doesnt work?

Just seen your above post with regards to your SAP kit. Fair play - Are you working for a consulting company? If so, who?

not sure what you mean by sap kit if you were referring to me, and if so no i dont work for a consulting company:)

edit: i see you meant WJA96 :D

ok well ive been running prime95 for two hours earlier, temps were good at 57c or so, i had to cancel it and the program froze, had to restart the pc. not sure if its down to the program, windows or the overclock - temps were reasonable as i said.

I dont like using it, the program doesnt crash until i want to cancel it
