Q6600 for £27 !

I love a good bargain, and that is a corker! Best I think I've ever got was a 9800GT for £15. Was artifacting but baked it in the oven and its still going strong (even with a decent overclock!)

Oh and my brother got a (good as brand new) DELL 20' LCD from the bay for about £40 because it was 'faulty'. Turns out the guy was using it on an old PC and it's onboard graphics couldn't run the screen at full res so it was blurry- hence him thinking it was faulty!

how much is a Q6600 actually worth then?

I have a feeling my rig is worth more in its individual components than it is as a rig....

I had a similar set-up as you. I bought a case and PSU, and motherboard for OCUK and swapped all my Dell components over - including the CPU and the operating system!

I then sold my XPS 410 as spares or repairs - case, mobo, psu, and got about £90 back from eBay at the time.

You can then unleash hell overclocking your Q6600!

I am actually seriously considering this now.

My OCZ and 5770 are only like 2 months old each, I could get a new mobo so I can OC the Q6600, get a new cooler, upgrade from windows 7 32-bit to 64 and wack in a new HDD as well as this one's starting to grind and get 8GB DDR3 and get a new case to put it all in. I could do all that for about £300, then sell my old PSU, mobo and case like you and make some money back on that £300.

Worked for me and the Q6600 is still a great CPU.

Be very careful which socket 775 motherboard you choose though.
(Do your homework)

Picked up a 6800 Ultra from a member here before the nazis banned me from MM, 10 quid i think about 3 yrs ago? He wasn't sure it worked as he had had it under waterblocks and reused them and lost the hsf, works like a charm to this day :D

The Q6600 currently goes on the bay for roughly 65-75 inc delivery.

I have been watching some custom riggs that have been up for sale and they are selling for a lot less as a whole than the individual components are going for.

One I was watching the other week went for £220 but I calculated selling the items individually on the bay would easily have made £350.

What a steal you got there!!!

I got a Q6600 pretty much 6 months after release off the bay for £100 - including delivery, cooler, a fully boxed nearly new 775 motherboard and 2GB stick of DDR2.

Recently sold the Q6600 by itself a couple of months back for £90 delivered.

The guy was selling off a load of hardware and said it was a return - he'd tested it and it wasn't working but it did boot to bios. Well, I fired it up and it worked fine after a bios reset! Seller must have been in a rush.... :D
