Yeah I would try it just to see what the ASUS software says.

I would really try to find out what sort of FSB the board and chip will let you have. Once you do that you will have a rough idea of how far the low-multi'ed quad will clock.

Something fishy is going on. I tried to manually set the cpu voltage as well and it will not take either.

-edit update-
just installed the newest 5.x bios and that fixed it. I can adjust the voltages manually now.

X48 is 90nm and needs high NB voltage for high quad-core FSB. To say that it will do 500mhz on a 45nm quad at 1.3-1.4v NB is quite ridiculous tbh. VTT needs to be kept below 1.4v, and PLL needs to be kept below 1.6v.

Does this also apply to the X38 chipset?
