Such an amazing deal, I thought it deserved it's own forum thread.

Qpad MK-85 LED Pro Backlit Mechanical Gaming Keyboard - UK Layout @ £99.98 inc VAT

KB-001-QP_400.jpg

Unlike your average keyboard, that functions through rubber domes, forcing you to press each key all the way down in order for the stroke to register, the MK-85 feature true mechanical switches with unmatched accuracy and feel. No more pressing with full-force in order to activate the keys. The QPAD keyboard will respond to your every stroke in an instant.

Other boards normally have a short life span and wear out quickly, resulting in unresponsiveness, delays and a dull, clunky feel to the keys. The key switches on MK-85 are built to last 50 million strokes, and the QPAD mechanical key technology provides distinct feedback and puts you in absolute control. The travel distance of the keys is set to 4mm with an actuation point at 2mm.

For gamers, it’s all about the feel and functionallity and that is where the QPAD MK-85 truly shines. With a full size keyboard layout in 3 sections, gaming profiles, macro recording, mechanical key switches, media keys and full N-Key roll over via USB, it’s the perfect gaming keyboard. Nuff said...

That's a good price for the mk-85, getting it from qpad is much more expensive and the shipping costs are pretty high - I suppose the only benefit is they offer a choice of switches. Any plans to provide the same options at OcUK? I had my eye on the MK-80 with browns from qpad but its more than your deal on the mk-85!

Have you used browns? I know switches are personal preference, however I really dislike them, and so does the other mechanical switch keybaord fan at OcUK, RJKONEILL.

No I haven't to be fair ;) I actually do remember the discussions you guys had about the browns and that you weren't that keen on them. It's mainly based on what I've read and deduction. I tried blacks but it was odd to me without the feedback and I've read that the reds are fairly similar to blacks in that regard. Blues would be nice for that but the noise would be an issue without o-rings or some other mod. So through elimination I was thinking browns. There are clears which I think are between brown and blue but they are pretty rare to find in any kbs. Just remind me again what you and rjkoneill preferred, was it the reds/blacks?

EDIT: just to add one of the other considerations was that it would be for general use and I hear blacks/reds are not so great for protracted typing.

i was looking at this keyboard little while ago. now with this price need to go do some good deeds for the misses see what she says probably a month of hard labor doing dishes

I have been looking at this keyboard for over a week now. I really want it. Problem is, there isn't a shop nowhere near me that i can try out the different Cherry switches...

I really need to find somewhere to sample these sorts of keyboards as well!

Such a large price commitment for something you don't know how it will feel.

I feel exactly the same, my BlackWidow is on its last legs after I spilt liquid into it, don't want to try and fix it and just make things worse.

Really want to try switches other than blues, even asked a competitor if I could try some out in their shop local to me, I was told yeah sure, only for me to ride my bike there to find they had none in stock

Wonder if the OcUK store has them on display...

They do indeed! Which is the great thing about the new store, you get to try and play with lots of things you don't normally see in stores.

I have one and can say they are sublime. Would never go back now.

Greebo, what made you choose red switches?

I also thought that brown would be best but after reading up (lots and lots) I decided to go with red. I really didn't want the clicking noise I decided as it would upset my gf!

It takes a bit of getting used to but find I can now touch type no problems on reds plus they are great at gaming.
