Just had a blast, definite purchase for me, games like this never grow old, back in the day this game (and Unreal) helped me master the mouse and keyboard, it's funny all these years later the same game can do the same for the joypad, if anything this game is worth the purchase for that alone, if you can master this then you'll see improvements with your skill on all other on-line fps's.

I just played the trial and when I played online it was in 3rd person view. Is this always the case?

Maybe, but you'd never catch any real quake players using anything other than mouse and keyboard.

These so called "real Quake players" need to broaden their horizons then.

Even then the Dreamcast had keyboard and mouse support as well, and the only difference compared to the PC version was slower frame rate and a few other changes, but it never spoilt the game that much. It was a nice alternative and something fun and fast paced for split-screen play.

Yeah and it can be really disorientating since it is just a simple no-pan quick flash turn so to speak and so it can cause confusion or bad mistakes.

A nice slice of nostalgia, but my after taking the SP as far as you can go on the trial it gave me the sort of eyestrain/watering low FPS used to.
