Quality of Sausage Rolls over time

Beige mash of beigeness in your mouth now a sausage roll. It has got to the point where I rarely bother with any fast foods now if I'm honest. Last kebab - must be VERY drunk to think of one, and have skipped food everytime I've been out since - I didn't half finish. Burger king/Greggs can't remember my last while sober. They're no longer cheap, but have gotten worse IMO.

Sadly, home-made sausage rolls are the only way to get real quality these days. Not even that much faff if you buy pre-rolled. Nice bit of sausage meat from the butcher, mix with chilli, apple, whatever takes your fancy. Wrap those piggies up, baste, and pop-in the oven! Take them in to work sometimes and they're gone within the hour.

Never mastered the homemade sausage roll. Always get too much expansion in the puff pastry which I'm sure TV chefs will tell you is essential for some BS reason but means you have to bite through too much flour and fat before you get to meaty goodness.

Isnt this the reason we have mums for?....

Local butchers have done quality sausage rolls for as long as I can remember. Downside is they had 6 shops around the town until about 5 years, now down to 2.

They produce their own bacon, pork pies and sausage rolls. All excellent.

Exactly the same, fast food is no longer cheap, people at work to Mac D once a week and they its like £6-£10 a pop and they all complain of feeling like crap around 3pm :)

Never been a fan of sausage rolls, I always find them dry. A Greggs' cheese pasty on the other hand is my dirty indulgence. Not a huge pastry lover though, but I'll happily engage with one of two of those when feeling a little bit fruity.
