Quantum Break-coming to Steam & retail PC in Sept 14th!

Played it and it's an average game - the story is quite interesting though. Be interesting to see if it gets optomised as on Windows 10 it's in a weird window, they made it like the Windows 8 (and I guess 10) apps, where by it's like a borderless window. If they optomise it then it may well be worth playing. As it is, it definitely needs patching.

Remedy confirmed its still coming out 29th September. Looking like a 6PM GMT release as well due to retail edition. No preload though and 68GB

CD Keys (cheapest place to buy right now) are now emailing the Steam keys out but no pre-load confirmed by Remedy & 68GB

Quantum Break – Official Steam requirements revealed, will be DX11-only, will not support mGPU systems

Remedy has revealed the official PC requirements for the Steam version of Quantum Break. According to them, the Steam version of Quantum Break will only support DX11. Yeap, instead of supporting both APIs, Remedy decided to completely abandon the DX12 API in favour of the DX11 one (at least for the Steam version of Quantum Break). This basically means that the Win10 version of Quantum Break will NOT receive a patch to support DX11.

What’s also interesting is that the Steam version of Quantum Break will not support SLI or Crossfire configurations. This is a feature that most people believed would be possible with DX11. However, Remedy claimed that SLI (and obviously Crossfire) will not be supported.

“Like mentioned on other topics, the game doesn’t support SLI. But even with one GTX 1080 and the right settings, you should be able to get an enjoyable experience out of the game. I recommend comparing visual differences between ‘high’ and ‘ultra’ options in different areas of the display settings page.”

Furthermore, it appears that a single GTX1080 won’t be able to max out the Steam version of Quantum Break (at least according to the developers themselves).

Anyway, Quantum Break releases on Steam on September 29th, and you can find below its official Steam requirements.

MINIMUM:

OS: Windows 7 – 64 bit
Processor: Intel Core i5-4460, 2.70GHz or AMD FX-6300
Memory: 8 GB RAM
Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 760 or AMD Radeon R7 260x
DirectX: Version 11
Storage: 68 GB available space

RECOMMENDED:

OS: Windows 10 – 64 bit
Processor: Intel Core i5 4690, 3.9GHz or AMD equivalent
Memory: 16 GB RAM
Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970 or AMD Radeon R9 390
DirectX: Version 11
Storage: 68 GB available space

"But even with one GTX 1080 and the right settings, you should be able to get an enjoyable experience out of the game."

Well, that fills me with confidence that this is a highly polished and well optimised game...

Steam price is now only £29.99 no wonder no 69GB pre-load I do not think they are expecting this to sell many copies somehow the Steam refund feature will get hammered methinks....

I bought it at launch but only recently finished it.

I'd recommend waiting until it's going cheap as although it's a pretty good game now it's not very long.

Steam version has the same unfixable technical issues as Win 10 store sadly I am still going to keep it as I already refunded the Win10 version at launch.

The big issue with this release is that it uses the same Xbox One 1 combine 4 frames into 1 to produce the final onscreen image. This means no SLI or Crossfire & anything above 1920x1080 is a real hardware breaker unless you use the image softening upscale feature which means produces a soft image & but makes the FPS playable gameplay wise.

Its not fixable so Remedy put the game out as is but I suspect it will attract just as much negativity as the Win10 store version due to the technical defects & poor port quality. It was obviously never meant to reach PC & that shows from the shoddy looking prologue where you get severe clipping issues to the stuttering Streaming only live action movie scenes (40 to wade through).

Despite this the game still needs 67.7GB excluding the live action cutscenes & shoddy looking textures

The amount of ratings in one day on steam eclipses the amount of ratings on Windows store. Surely that is proof enough people aren't buying games on the windows store as a viable alternative to steam?

Remedy would seem to agree; in the DF video they said that the developer will not be updating/fixing the Windows Store edition any further.

Has anyone bothered with it? How does it run? It's dirt cheap here in Poland and I've just sold a key I didn't need so I figured it might be worth a punt.

This not just about "Windows 7"...

I have Windows 10 but will NEVER purchase a game through the Windows store.

Agreed. I will not be dictated to.

I'm pretty close to writing off any game that forces me to use additional 'authentication software too.

I'm looking at you Ubisoft.

Windows Store is utter crap, every game released through it has some serious problems. I'll never buy a game from there again, especially at such ridiculous prices. **** Gears of War 4, I'll either wait till it gets pirated or released on Steam or just skip it.

A mate of mine is palying it on steam. He loves it. But says the storyline is slow. May get it in the )(mas sale.

Thanks, I don't mind the storyline being slow as long as it's even remotely interesting. Just hoping for a decent shooter/action game with nice set pieces to pass some time.

I can have it for like 10 quid here so I won't be losing much anyways;p
