Getting Prince Philip vibes from this. I remember posting about Philip being sicker than the palace was telling us. A few weeks later, he was dead.

Now we’re getting repeated reports that the Queen is being told to rest for weeks after being in hospital for tests. I have that same uneasy feeling about the situation.

I'm not "worried" as I don't know her. But I do wish her the best, as I would any person. It really will be the end of an era when she passes away.

^^ Hopefully so.

i actually wonder if as an effect of the lack of public engagements for 18 months if ramping back up to speed as such will unfortunately not be possible.

This.

Besides, she'll hang on long enough to make sure that Charlie doesn't get the throne ;)

Isn't his particular brand of "talking to plants" weirdness just what the kids are into these days?

One can't help but wonder if there are plans in place to ensure that the crown quickly passes to William to deliver a comparatively popular young couple and another period of stability, as an aging Charles (72 now) on the throne for any length of time seems more likely to lead to increased questions about the relevance of the firm.

He could still get a decade and a half. I don't think he'd pass up the opportunity. I wouldn't mind him as monarch as he likes to meddle and isn't as passive as some. Should lead to some interesting controversies.

Would also lead to another bank holiday being on the calendar rather quickly :)

I think when she does go it will impact people more than they might be expecting. The sneering kids less so, but some of those who have lived a bit there is a sort of unmeasurable thing with her. I had zero time for Dianna, none, could not stand the constant noise about her but I still remember feeling emotional come burial probably more because of the people around me not her.

Odd one but London Bridge Down is close I think.

I'm not too worried at the moment as she seems to be ticking along, but she does need to understand she's bloody 95 and needs to slow down a bit before she does herself a mischief. I think it's a case that the doctors were worried if she carried on she might die sooner than she might have if she didn't

She's like boomer++. End of an era and when she does go my support for a monarchy goes with her.
She stands for a different time, she has lived through more than anyone could possibly imagine and had influence and connection like no one else alive today I think.

Charles has an impossible job to replicate his mum.

Will be a very sad day for her to go, it'll be one of the most monumentous days in history.

Be interesting to see how long it takes for the "ehrmahgehrd mah tax monies kek" crowd to turn up.
