Queen Elizabeth II has passed away - keep posts civil and respectful

Yeah I also don't like the look of these reports and think she doesn't have long left. It's also pretty common when one half of an elderly couple passes the other follows not too long after....

Unless it's Samson the Longleat gorilla who actually got more healthy when his partner died.

She has been an outstanding monarch. Most people can’t go a week or two in the limelight without making a fool of themselves. She has been extraordinary.

I hope she’s with us with some years yet still, but I too don’t like these recent reports. Even the Queen can’t escape time.

Getting Prince Philip vibes from this. I remember posting about Philip being sicker than the palace was telling us. A few weeks later, he was dead.

Now we’re getting repeated reports that the Queen is being told to rest for weeks after being in hospital for tests. I have that same uneasy feeling about the situation

I was thinking the same as well getting similar medical reports as well, was also wondering at one point whether Boris's hosting the COP26 summit would get upstaged that'd put a huge stick in his spokes.

She has to be capable of doing the job though. If she ends up bed bound then she should step down.

Other royals would stand in, like they're already starting to do.

Boris would have been exploiting the Queen politically (unionism anti-sturgeon, castigation of china/russia) , and, from covid discussion,
Queen is safest away from that risk - participants are just taking lfd tests, so, realistically she can't interact with folks,
Boris can prances around w/o his mask all he wants.

( Biden meeting Pope in close proximity, theyr'e presumably taking daily pcr tests. )

I'm not worried about the Queen, at the end of the day we all live, we all die, she has had a very good, prosperous life, it will be a very sad when she does pass away, because I truly believe the Queen is a great women, who lived through the same era as my parents, who lived and served through the war, and somewhat had to live on rations, although I find it hard to imagine in terms of royalty.

I'm not really sure how I feel about royalty in general anymore, I sometimes can't help having a chip on my shoulder, feel negative, feel silver spoon thoughts, when I see so many people struggling in life. I feel like royalty and rich people in general are out of touch with society as a whole. I like tradition, I kind of like seeing the royal family on TV and seeing the positivity that they bring, Charles and William are good people and I hope they can have an even bigger influence in the future. If only it was possible royalty and aristocrats as a whole could star on a program like Channel 5s Rich House, Poor House and do a life swap for a month or two, with a family living on a council estate, where one parent is unable to work, due to severe health conditions, struggling with debt etc.

Was thinking the same. Probably broken heart syndrome. Hope she goes on longer. It’s downhill after her.
Possibly, my dad was a year older than the Queen, when he passed away, my mums health gradually got worse over the coming months, and passed away 11-months after, and 11-years younger she was, it felt like she just wanted to give up. Both were patriotic and loved the royal family.

I think, hopefully she is ok now, but as said she needs to take a break. Think she was on video calls the other day to various people, so she must be doing ok now.
It’s amazing to think how long she has been Queen. Truly remarkable person.

Hope to god she makes it to 100 at least, not sure why but I think it would be rather fitting for her to go out after she reaches that milestone.
The stories she could tell about the world leaders and what a collection it has been through her reign! , hopefully she's got a big jotter with lots of juicy bits that will get published at some point.

Never got the monarchy hate, they work hard and are positive people who help and do lots of charity support and work, fight in the forces etc whilst being in a massive media pressure pot, how many would or could manage thier roles.

I don't think it's hatred for most critics, I think most of them just think the family exploits their position too often for a supposedly diplomatic and ceremonial institution.

We'll likely never find out, but I think it's fair to keep an open mind about what goes on at that level of political theatre. The lack of an appropriate level of scrutiny, the state's obligation to protect the institution itself rather than merely the people who happen to represent it and a sense of invulnerability can easily tempt someone to act far outside the boundaries of what is expected on the surface. Perhaps the Queen is/was uniquely able to resist such impulses, I should certainly hope so.

Probably the worrying why certain members of her family are acting as they are is probably getting too much for her.

Her relationship with Harry was particularly close then Meghan the ***** took this away from her like a carpet swept under her feet.

No. He's a first grade knob and made that decision himself. Men that are controlled by their partners this way need a good back hand across the chops.

I dunno - I feel like from some of his comments he has been born into a life with expectations of being someone he is not (to a degree that may be more or less true for the others of his family but some will be more inclined to conform or buy into that life than others) and as sometimes happens in that situation has jumped head first into a different situation.
