Figured this could be a useful thread. I'll try and remember to update it as we go, linking the reviews/posts etc here. Any accessories or even home made mods can be here. Maybe some other enthusiastic person could grab the 2nd post so they can always take over if I stop :D.

Not sure on the rules here, for posting links to competitors, but for parts that OCUK don't stock? My MVH studios headstrap has arrived, and I don't know if I can link to it.

Fair dos.

So https://mvhstudios.co.uk/collections/accessories/products/pro-headmount-for-the-oculus-quest-2 £19 and about £4.50 shipping. Really comfortable so far, highly adjustable and I suspect there's more comfort to be had from it. I haven't used any other headset or strap, except for the quest 2 original, and I didn't find that too bad. I don't have the power bank to fit into it, and may have to wait a while, but will try and find something else to act as counterweight (though right now I don't feel I need it).

My main issue now is that with my narrow IPD, the lenses bash my nose. I suspect the narrow fit headset could fix that, but there's not really anything a strap could do about it.

Think about getting something from VRCovers? They do good stuff usually. Not sure their Quest 2 pads are out yet.

That was on my list of potential accessories to get. Basically my nose is just a tiny distance from the lenses, doesn't take much for them to knock, so I don't think even a better fit facial interface will make a huge difference, need to try some padding on the lenses I guess, but then also offset the possibility of the lenses being pushed out. I'll work it out.

If anyone has the narrow fit facial interface that they don't need, I'd be interested in giving it a go :D.

There's now a wait list up on the MVHStudios site for the headstrap. Price has also gone up by a tenner (not a huge shocker though, to be fair - it was priced too low to begin with).

He commented when he first posted it up on Reddit that after expenses, he didn't actually make very much on each item, and he did them more as a hobby. I guess given the amount of orders coming in, he's trying to actually earn from his time spent (and the time that the 3d printers are running for).

My GOMRVR Halo strap just arrived

https://www.aliexpress.com/item/100...earchweb0_0,searchweb201602_,searchweb201603_

My first ever Halo, so I am still trying to figure out how to adjust it perfectly, but it seems sturdy enough, and not have the facial interface clamped to my cheeks is indeed more comfortable.

I will test it out properly over the next few days, but so far so good, especially for half the price of the Elite Strap.

Write up a review here and I'll link it in the first post.

Which one did you buy? 64Gb or 256GB?

And yes, it's worth getting a strap. And a new face cover from VR Cover When they are back in stock.

These are essential.

New Strap.
New Facial interface.

Other things you might need.

5Ghz Router(for Wireless), Long USB cable(for Oculus Link), Battery Pack(If you think you will play for long sessions.

You probably have a 5GHz router already.

Don't think strap or interface are essential, certainly not immediately. I'm glad I got a new strap, but the original wasn't awful for me. As for interface, I seem to need a narrow interface, but I don't believe VR cover offer various sizes in terms of width, so I'd be left with the same cushioning. I don't mind it too much, just a bit unpleasant after sweating into it a lot.

So I've made a slight modification to my MVH studios headstrap. Can't say I've tried it yet, and still waiting on a suitable battery pack, however on a quick wear, it seems to achieve what I wanted. Basically, I've taken the vertical strap off the original strap (just slid it off the horizontal), and using a couple of velcros (the two that the mvh studios came with I believe), connected it lengthwise from the headset to the battery holder, it gives me more front to back security and once a battery is actually in place, it should help the counterbalance have greater effect.

What do you think? I would like to try and find a better way to attach it to the battery holder if possible, suggestions (don't want to do anything destructive, so won't cut and reattach the loop at the rear of the lengthwise strap).

looks good

i thought they did one for battery packs ?

They're all for battery packs, the problem for me is getting the battery pack. Nowhere that sells the battery I need (or similarly sized) will ship it to me due to location. I'm hoping I've picked one up, but they're being quiet on ebay so far, so I'm not holding out much hope.

Finally got the battery pack for my mvhstudios headstrap. Combined with using the top strap from the original quest strap, it's really great, takes the weight of the headset off really nicely. Narrow facial interface is probably the last thing I need I guess, so if anyone has a spare one going, let me know :D.

Not the prettiest wiring setup atm (it's unplugged too since I' was charging the powerbank).

Really nice to take the weight off the front, the top strap helps with that, but previously I had it slightly too tight and it was taking the weight more than the rest, so a small adjustment and now it's really nice. Just got the left right wobble, which I'd think a narrower interface may help with. Might just try and get some padding on the lenses so it's not bouncing off the bridge of my nose on quick turns.
