Quest 2 accessories - recommendations, reviews etc

Same here. Order placed - finally!

Curious to see what the universal battery pack mount is. Don't think that was an option before? Hopefully saves me from needing to order a new pack though.

I noticed that when reading through :D, made me curious as well, but I'm still happier to actually have mine (and for £10 less!). It's still the audio option that I'd like to see turn up though!

And The MVH Studio head mount arrived. It looks better than the pictures suggest.

I got the Universal one. I am sorry I didn't go for one of the other ones, it doesn't come with any way to hold in a powerbank. It has a place to rest on but no way to secure it. So I am going to have to get some straps of some sort.

Haven't had time to set it up properly yet. I did do a quick test and even with just that quick test I can tell it's going to be more comfortable than the Elite strap. It takes the weight completely off my forehead and face. You can also use it without a facial interface installed, so you can get the lenses really close to your eyes. But, there is a lot of light leakage.

Will be doing a longer test later. See if it puts any painful pressure on other part of your head. And see how good it is with quick head movements etc.

To give some hints. I put the head strap on first, without the quest 2 attached, and make sure that's setup comfortably. You should have some added foam inserts etc (I bought extras due to a long narrow head). Then for me, I have the holding arms on the furthest forward slot that the screw goes into, and angled down. Then I place the quest 2 into the arms, and onto my head, with the arms almost completely tightened. Push the quest 2 onto your face until it's just the right distance, then tighten the arm screws to hold it where it should be, on the face, but still with the whole weight taken by the strap.

You should be able to use velcro straps to hold a battery pack on. There's one or two included with the headstrap I believe (one to hold the front foam to the headset, I took that one off, though may try adding it back actually). As you may have seen in my photos, I've actually left the vertical strap from the original on my quest, and attached it all the way to the back to the battery strap, as it helps counterbalance better in my mind.

Cheers Mate. What you say makes sense, so I will start all over again later :)

Yeah, I was thinking velcro straps. Just a little disappointed that there wasn't anywhere for a powerbank to click into.

If he doesn't know what bank you're using, he can't make a size :D. Does it have a platform at the bottom for it to at least rest on (whilst you strap it in with velcro)?

I'm trying to figure out now how I can strap the quest 2 to the front strap, whilst still using the vertical to the battery pack as well...

The larger foam piece can go onto the base of the skull bit (where it tightens in), the thinner bits go on the top two headstraps.

EDIT - I think there's some instructions on his Youtube (maybe for hte quest 1 version).

I applied extra foam on the sides and even small slices around the cog fitting screw pieces.

I also put some underneath the front headband cover.

I think it's easy to over tighten it, when it really doesn't need to be too tight.

Looks good! I like the idea behind using the padding from the facemask! I've just used foam tape on those. My issue came from the sides being pulled in too far (narrow head) and being pressure points, but seem to have got around that now.

Something I do like about it, is that I can have it on relatively loosely for a lot of things (fishing for instance), but then can easily tighten it up and it still be comfortable, for gorilla tag.

Yeah, I am happy with the results so far, it's still not just right but much better than it was at Stock. I just realised something too, I should be able attach the VR Cover padding to the headband using velcro. Not wrapped around it like I have now.

And that is a good thing about it. It stays on even if a little loose.

It does take a lot of fiddling and adjustment, but I feel that it has the potential for a very high comfort ceiling, even if it takes time.

Received my Quest 2 today, how awsome is VR. Superb. Just been playing Alyx, mind blown. What are the best multiplayer games?

What do you like?

Real vr fishing is relaxing and sociable. Walkabout golf is meant to be really good. Eleven tabletennis is amazingly accurate. Gorilla tag is great fun and exercise. Then there shooterd I'm not familiar with etc etc.

Can anyone with the MVH Studios strap tell me of you could use a different powerbank in an anker one if the only difference is the length. I have a belkin powerbank that's just slightly longer than the powercore II.
Thanks

On mine you wouldn't be able to easily, but that said, the little side pieces aren't that large, so you may get away with it. I use a couple of small velcro cable ties to hold mine in tight, so could probably just file the side pieces down and not notice a difference.

I need to read the whole thread, but is there a go to recommended battery power pack option kind of built into the an upgraded headstrap or something? is that the preferred method hanging it off the head strap or does anyone run one in a pocket or something? My son has a quest 2 and wants longer battery life. :)

MVH studios headstrap comes with a battery holder, either for a specific battery, or a generic.

In general though, all you really need is some velcro cable ties eg https://www.overclockers.co.uk/ocuk-branded-cable-tie-1m-length-cutable-to-length-cb-109-ok.html

And just strap them onto the battery to hold it in place around whatever strap you are using. I've added some to my mvhstudios headstrap, even though I've got the right setup, since on very violent movements, it would slip out occassionally, a couple of cable ties around the middle and it's going nowhere.

OK. Is the elite head strap not the best one today then? My lad is 11 so obviously doesn't have an adult sized head yet so not sure if the MVH one would be suitable as the guy in a youtube video I just saw said he had to have it fully tightened.
Should I just go with an Anker power pack of around 10,000mah? Any particular type I should go with?

I'd not worry about specifically getting an Anker. I'd just look for something compact, rather than long and thin etc. 10000mah is good. As for straps, why not try what ShiWarrior has just got, and get the headcup thing that goes onto the original strap.

So I discovered last night the Q2 battery does not last long enough, headset shutoff just as I was on finals at Half Moon Bay. Guess I need to look into one of those battery strap things or go back to using the cable.

There's plenty of ways to attach a battery pack. Don't have to buy the elite battery strap, lots of options available.
