Question about Microfilters (need a quick answer please)

Just there. I even highlighted it for you.

Age isn't a defence or point of ignorance.
If an elderly persons car breaks down, they don't expect it to be fixed for free because they are elderly. Why should any other manual service be different?
Why would anybody interpret that differently?.

WRONG, you are reading into something that isn't there and making stuff up,
I rang up, cheekily asked if it was free for a pensioner and they said no, I DID NOT BELIEVE OR EXPECT IT TO BE FREE AND ACCEPTED THE ANSWER and bought the Microfilters without arguing about it.

BT never "tell" you that you are being charged for an engineer for a BB fault (unless you tell them you've cut the line or similar negligent act), they HAVE to make you aware that should an engineer come out and the fault be found customer side of the BT master socket then you may/will get charged. Your sister has been told the same sentence and interpreted it in a different way to you.

Wrong again, you're really bad at this.
BT told me if we wanted an Engineer to setup the modem there would be a charge or we could DIY.
When I rang about the noise they said because we did a DIY there would still be a charge.
Once again I cheekily asked if pensioners got it done for free and they said no.
You obviously are not an expert on what BT say so give up.

There is no Openreach price list entry for "engineer visit for a pensioner". Your sister is mistaken.

People are trying to help you here - 3x microfilters is cheaper than being billed for a visit.

This is a different part of the argument Caged and one I am willing to accept.
My Sister is a pushover and could easily be telling me it is free just to get a job done and your point about me fitting the Microfilters is cheaper. I 100% accept that could be the real truth because my Sister has had to put up with a lot of crap from my mum over the years.

My main argument, and one you seem to have accepted, is nowhere have I said I expected it should be free after we accepted to DIY. As far as I'm concerned there has always been a charge.

Would you like to try that with the correct department? Maybe the customer support and not sales?

I may not know exactly BT's response to every mundane attempt you make to try and shun responsibility of that maybe everything in life should be free but I have a pretty good idea what they will come back with.

Maybe I dreamed up those 3 years I worked at the UK's (then) biggest business DSL reseller where I had close contact with BT at least 20 times a day?

If you are responding like this I'd guess your sister just told you what you wanted to hear to get the job done.

If you've read my post you will see that I've took them back because the Engineer is free and so are the Microfilters.

Please link to where I believed the Engineer should be free?

very confrontational and defensive to everything that's been said mate, wassup with the attitude?

It appears a number of people read your post as you being surprised that the engineer would be chargeable "even for a pensioner"

If you cba to test the filters then why should BT foot the bill?

Will you install a service for me?
Yes sir the charge is £x

If I fail to do this and still need an engineer will it then be chargeable?
Yes sir the charge is £x

Its still the same install.

As mentioned above BT advise of a "potential" charge of £129.99 if damage/fault is within the home boundary. Wether it be someone smashing your socket, someone plugging it in wrong, or someone cutting through your line.

Ah he's not an expert on what BT says ;)

.

Once again I asked a simple question if it could be done for free, I did not shun responsibility and I don't expect everything in life be free even though you want to make stories up HOWEVER when buying stuff I will ask for things because it doesn't hurt. I bought a Tumble Dryer last week and I asked if they would throw in a 5 year guarantee, they said no but gave me 3 years. Two weeks a go I bought a new guitar amp for a friend and they threw in a lead and tuner. If you don't ask you don't get and I feel very sorry for people like you who just accept a price and pay it without asking for a discount or something.

I have just showed you that BT do give you a price for a callout so I will accept when you worked there for 3 years they didn't but they do now.

You are incapable of reading posts so I will verify what I said to Caged above, yes it is possible that my Sister told me fibs to get the job done. Not 'what I wanted' because I had already gone to Maplin to buy the items and it was a PITA to get back there to get my money back. I wanted to hear that I could just use the Microfilters I'd bought however this will once again not stop you making things up.

Shy bairns get nowt I appreciate that, but the way you worded the post didn't imply it.

In the image above BT gave you a price for an engineer install not a call out as you describe it. If you'd asked BT to send some filters as there were not enough with the hub I'd half expect them to just send some.

The router should have came with two or three filters did you not get these ?

My Sister fitted it and when I asked my Mum for the instructions on Thursday she said my Sister had taken the box so I have no idea, it would be funny if there was.

* for the attention of Steveocee, taking packaging away from my Mum's is something we have had to do for years and we are expected to dispose of it.
Make up what you want from that, perhaps I fly tip it?

The callout was the second part, you can see I asked If there was a problem and we needed an Engineer would there be a cost and she said it would cost £49. It is there in black & white.
