I've been toying with the idea of getting a ssd for a little while but my question is say I bought a 60gb or 128gb for example, id install my operating system on that and a few apps etc once thats do there wouldnt be much space left so all games docs etc would have to be installed on my 1tb hdd, im presuming everything on there would only run as fast as if it was on a normal hdd install therefore there wouldnt be much point in having the ssd?

A bit of a daft question i know.......

Obviously storing things on an SSD isn't going to make them run faster in itself; it's only going to affect performance where disk access is involved. Anything stored on the standard HDD would only load at normal HDD speed, and the same would apply to any subsequent disk access. However, with lots of system files such as DLLs and the virtual memory swap file on the SSD drive if Windows is installed there, you should see improved performance when whatever you are running needs to access those.

Your best bet is to store only applications you really want to be able to start quickly, and any data files you want to be able to access similarly, on the SSD drive alongside your Windows installation. For practical purposes, one of the biggest differences you should see is in the time it takes to start up Windows.
