Hello All,

I am having a bit of a brain ache with regards to a couple of questions.

First. I currently have a Zotac 560ti 448. Which has been great. Although Runs pretty hot. Now it can play pretty much everything I want too. But hoping for a little more power. The problem I have is. If I buy another one to SLI they will both get hot and melt together.

I don't play my PC that often so was possibly thinking of selling my 560ti and getting two of a better cooler design? Gainward or someone. Is this a bad idea? Advise please. (Considering these cards are like £70)

Another one.

I'm running out of storage for games, films and stuff. VMware seems to completely hammer storage. I was thinking about buying another SSD and doing some Raid 0. But not sure wether I need the speed or the capacity, probably the capacity, but I don't have any spare bays in my case. (Not willing to buy a different case. I like it too much) Would external storage be too slow for VMware testing and Plex?

Sorry for the confusing questions.:D

Also how is the Hyper 212? Good cooler? My i5 is pre Devils Canyon so if its not up to the task, recommend something better?

The Coolermaster 212 is a good cooler, well up to the task at stock and even a moderate overclock.

The CM should be good enough, and the 4670k is pretty much the same as the 4690k clock for clock, just a better TIM iirc

I would sell the 560Ti on the MM or similar, then perhaps upgrade to a single better card, better idea than getting two 560Tis. One card will most probably be faster, have a bit more VRAM and run cooler/less power. For £155 you can get an R9 280 or £200 a 780Ti/290X

For storage a single 1TB/2TB HDD sounds okay, though perhaps a bit slower at running games

Thank you for your suggestions. I presume you mean external drive? I think a 780ti would be a waste on me to be honest. I will see how desperate I get. Would a 580 run okay?

What games do you play? You are running at 1440p right? For storage an internal drive would be good, bit easier than having an external drive should your motherboard and case support adding another one

Really you need a card with 3gb of VRAM at least. That'll help you get the best out of your monitor. Though even a 2gb 280X would be really good, can't see them selling for much more than £100 SH

Yes, was at 120hz aswell but that was hurting quality a bit too much. dropped it to 96 until I can get something with some oomph behind it.

I don't have the drive bays for another internal one. Ill have another look. Otherwise I'm going to have to swap my 1TB Drives for a 2TB/3TB

I play WoW, Dota 2, Smite, CS GO occasionally and other random games that take my fancy.

I would tend to agree with doomed then, an R9 280X with 3GB VRAM or similar should last you for a while and your PSU would suffice if you got one - if you were looking at playing more demanding games in the future you could go for a £200 290X (possibly a new PSU)/780Ti (could stick with your current one) for a bit of "future-proofing" but that's entirely up to you

There was a GTX670 going in the MM the other day, that would be a nice little boost.

Under £100 I think it was.

Nothing you play needs a 280X, I been there and done that from a GTX670 to a 280X.

People always ask why I have a crappy graphics card. I don't feel the need to spend X amount on it. Should I not need it.

I mean, seems a waste to have all that power to play minecraft etc lol.

Should a game I want to play, require more, I will upgrade.

I will look at a 670. Do they have reference coolers? My Ambient temperature inside the case are pretty high. Don't want to make it worse. Although that might get better with a 212 Hyper

Depends on the 670 you buy, I have one with a custom EVGA cooler, the £100 one in this thread has a reference/blower style cooler
