Question.

If your monitor only has a VGA port, use the DVI-VGA adaptor that came with the Gpu. If it has HDMI, then use that. As long as you are using one or the other, it should work.
Make sure the ram is in the second and forth slot, slot 1 being closest to the Cpu. Make sure when they were seated that the levers clicked back into place, in other words, they are upright.
Check to make sure all connectors are properly seated. Then, turn on the monitor and computor.

I've done that man. To the tee.

I've given up, havin a spliff to calm my nerves down. I know it's something simple I'm not doing right but I just really don't feel confident enough to continue, no saying what damage I'll do.

It's pretty hard to do damage, unless you're truly ham fisted. Like I said before, when inserting RAM etc., you need to push quite firmly sometimes, as Idleman said until the levers on the slots click. Checking that everything is seated correctly is essential, because it only takes a few seconds, and can potentially save you a lot of hassle (you don't want to go RMA'ing stuff only because you didn't push the RAM in properly).

So, you've got the CPU, GPU, HDD / SSD and RAM connected to the mobo, connected the PSU to 4/8 pin CPU connection on MOBO, 20/24 pin ATX on mobo, 6/8 pin to GPU and SATA power leads to HDD / SSD, and connected your monitor to the GPU, yes?

It might be worth trying it with the mobo out of your case, to check it's not shorting anywhere.

yeh psu is fine
its prolly the same problem lots other ppl having and need bios update?
or the onboard isnt working either?

Well this morning I grabbed my old mobo, cpu and PSU and tried to do an external boot with it. THAT wont beep or post either, wtf is going on? I've connected the 20/24 pin, the 4 pin CPU and my monitor cable into the MOBO, it's doing exactly the same, no beep and nothing being displayed on the monitor.

Edit: got it to post but it still wont beep. Maybe the speaker died? It was working yesterday. Imma try my new gpu and psu in the old build, see if i can get a post.

Well im 100% sure it's not shorting on case as I've just taken it all out and have it on box, system posts and beeps but only when I have my old gts 250 plugged in, monitor and beeps just wont work when I plug in the 7850, I've tried the white DVI adapter that came with the gpu and no difference.

Anyone heard of such problems with the 7850?

Brb, I'll try the motherboard gpu.

Okay guys, the new system is booting and beeping fine but only when the 7850 is removed and the onboard GPU is connected. WTF.

Also I'm 90% sure there is nothing wrong with the GPU as I tried it in my OLD system and it posted/beeped.

If it posts when you connect to mobo, but does`nt when you connect to the 7850, you need to update the Bios. This seems to be a common problem with board.
Do you have a Usb flashdrive?

nope....cant i do it from bios ? version is f8

You can do it from your hdd or ssd, which ever you install your OS on.
Install the OS if you hav`nt already. Download the Bios update(F18) and unzip the file.
Restart computer and go to Q-Flash and select the location of the update, click and let it install.
Or you can use @BIOS in the windows and just select a link to d/load and install the update from.

Installing windows now, will try that out. COuld it also be something as simple as installing motherboard drivers also?

There have been a few threads like this, in the last few days. All had the same problem with their Gpu. After Bios update, problem solved.
So lets hope it`s the same for you. :D

Just curious, and it might be asked before... have you connected extra powre to your 7850? If not, that might be the culprit.
Good luck with the bios update, would be nice if it works after that :)
