Questions about using GTX8800 as a physX card

Hello

I'm thinking of upgrading to a GTX480 and use my current GTX8800 as a PhysX card. But I have two questions I hope someone here knows the answer to.

1. I've read that in windows vista you would have to have two monitors or a "dummy plug" hooked up to the graphic card to be used as the physx card in order for windows to activate it. Is this still true for Windows 7 (64)?

2. I've also heard that if your "physx" card is not good enough it might have a negative impact on the overall performance of the whole system. If this is true would it be a wrong to use the GTX8800 for physx?

My current system:
Win7 64, Q9450 2.66, Asus Maximus Extreme, 4GB DDR3, GTX8800, 850w Coolermaster PSU, Coolermaster Cosmos S case.

1 yer the extra screens will work with the extra card and have no impact on the main gpu i had the same problem when i had sli running across two cards i had to disable sli to run the extra screens when not gaming so i bought an extra card a 8600gtfor the extra screens and physX

2 and i noticed a little increase with the 8600 gt as a physx card but i mainly bought it for the extra screens

hope this helps

personally if your just running two screens sell the 8800 gtx and if your running more than two screens get some thing lest power hungery and cooler :)

The problem is that I only have one screen so I don't have anything to hook up to the "physx" (GTX8800) card. Will this be a problem in Windows 7?

no it would just be used as a physx card but its a bit off a waste tbh and a 250 gts for physx is massive overkill why not get another 280 gtx for sli that would make a bigger increase (ps that is for mr fujisawa )
