Quick Disconnects ... bit leaky?

Hey all,

I have a question on some quick disconnects I have in my loop, they are Phobya quick releases, G14 bulkheads.

So, all appears well until the machine is moved, nudged or otherwise disturbed, at which point they leak, sometimes a little, sometimes quite a lot, and it takes them a good long time to get back to a stable state.

Is this normal? is it down to like an internal pressure thing in the loop?

The build is quite new so I am still getting the odd bubble, I just checked now and there was one I could shift back to the res with a tilt, so I tilt the case slightly and I could hear a little drip forming on the disconnect, like a slight sucking noise.

Is this just par for the course with these type of component or would I be better advised to replace these couplers with a different brand / product / idea etc.

This is a hard line build in 16/12 Acrylic and on the outside of the case (where the quick disconnects are) I switch to softline tubing to go out through my wall to the heat exchanger.

Any suggestions?

Is there no olives or compression fittings which need to be installed. I am not sure as have never worked with those types of fittings.

Also have you checked that fittings will correctly seal with the diameter of the hardline tubing

Probably doesn't help much - may even be like rubbing salt in the wounds - but the Koolance QD3 range are very good. Pricey but they don't leak and don't drip when you disconnect them. They do let a little air in when you reconnect though. That's only a problem if your rad is a massive air trap like mine is!

If they are leaking it could be the o-ring is not inplace properly, l found some times the o-ring is displaced slightly when pushing them together.

Make sure the o-ring fits properly in the bodys groove and a tight fit.
