Quick eBay question please

What I'm saying is people on here are saying "proof of postage" is good enough.

As you've stated above, it's not - one needs "proof of delivery" - a signature.

You can all mock and correct me but it's the minority of items on eBay which are listed with the delivery requiring a signature. Most are first class and that's it.

Lesson learnt. I guess i'm lucky it's not more than £15.

EDIT - Wait a second....if he didn't receive it, he wouldn't have signed for it...? Your point still stands about being able to scam the Royal Mail.

With the above in mind, getting a proof of postage is ****** pointless.

If he didn't receive it, ergo he didn't sign for it.... then you would have the proof to show RM via their own track and trace system. Royal Mail offer the "Signed For" and "Special Delivery" services as a way of protecting both the customer (you, the sender) and themselves from the liability of scammers.

By all means, make a claim and you might well be successful. But you would have stood a far greater chance of being successful had you chosen an appropriate service.

People on here are saying that is not good enough though - apparently it has to be tracked.

oh sorry. i didn't mean it would help you win your case with paypal. it won't. but a proof of postage i believe is needed to claim back off of royal mail as it has the buyers address and proved that you sent it there. i am not sure even a receipt from the post office will be accepted for a claim as it only shows how much you paid at the till.

good luck though. i used to sell on ebay a lot and it is a real pain when a buyer pulls this i can imagine. it never happened to me though.
