Does the Corsa price seem right for the age and mileage ?

http://www.wis******s.co.uk/motoring/used-car-prices/

Which model is it, is it the Corsa C or B? I wouldn't pay 2k for a B. My friend had one and the interior is very dated and grey, the dials look dated too. Has a horrid steering wheel and the body roll is immense.

Have you looked at the 1.4 - 1.6 MK4 Golf? You can get them for 2k.

I don't know why that site has been starred? It's a free car valuation site. Google: Wise buyers guide.

Look, I think we all know everyones opinion on the ka
and i think we've exhaused the gay jokes already
let's look at some facts ka,s can handle I will give them that BUT that's about all they can do if you compare them to a fiesta it becomes completly illogical to even consider a ka
here's why
a) your a straight male
b) kas lack equipment compared to most fiestas
for example a nice zetec 1.25 like mine has a/c power steering a rev counter( which I think the importance of is seriously underestimated) I also have central locking and several other useful things such as a boot worth having ( fits a weeks shopping and the seats fold so I can fit literally anything in plasma tvs stuff from ikea etc) an engine with significantly more go and in my case 5 doors which is great as it allows you to actually put people in your car
c) fiesta handle great too, escpecially zetec s ones
d) you won't look gay
e) you can probly get a good fiesta cheaper than a ka
f) I have alloys and fogs and a spoiler I.e fiestas look far better
g) don't forget my fiesta is only a zetec you cam get a nice ghia with heated seats leather electric windows and mirrors if you look hard enough

So to recap choose a fiesta instead and you gain
Comport
Practicallity
Looks
Manhood
Power
Equipment
You still have the same money.....
Why are we talking about ka's again?
hey and that's just comparing with a fiesta there's A LOT more out there other than a ka or a corsa that will end up putting you in a ditch
such as a ford focus which is basically EPIC cheap motoring and handles like it's on rails

I had some 'special' edition Ka as a courtesy car a couple of months back. It really was Tesco Value motoring. There was nothing redeeming about it. The 1.3l boat anchor of an engine was horrible, it rattled terribly, smelt funny, had the worst stereo I've ever heard in a car (not that you'll hear anything over the epic road noise anyway) and was not that far removed interior wise from my collegues (now sold) H reg Fiesta 1.3, which incidentally was used as a mobile skip. It had under 25K on the clock (the Ka). I'd hate to imagine what one with 80k would be like.

I did have quite a good bit of fun flinging it around the odd roundabout, and can appreciate that if it had a better engine, it could be a half fun car.

Oh, and it was only 3 years old, and was rusting already and the steering wheel vibrated madly when the ignition was turned on. Buy a Fiesta!

Skip the fiesta and go for the focus. At this end of the market they are all pretty much the same price.

Most of the arguments that Eliot put forward also apply to Fiesta VS Focus :)

This is true aside from the fact that owning a fiesta doesn't negate the need to own a penis
but yeah I would agree with that a 1.6 focus or 306 hdi / turbo Is where I would be going with my cash personally
especially when taking into account the age of the op
I hae considered saying the word mondeo but tbh it would be too cliche

so its turbo'd and still has rear drums

Why would you need discs on a very light car with no weight over the back wheels? You'd end up having to bias them right down to prevent them from locking all the time. Discs are better at dissipating heat, and are easier to maintain, but in a rear brake application you don't need much heat dissipation as you don't actually want those components to be working too hard anyway.

I love the way people get all excited whenever they see something quick and/or tuned that has rear drums.

Ive seen a couple of ka turbo conversions with focus duratec rs engines in they had to have the rear drums converted to disks cos the drums and front calipers wernt cutting it

Thought you said we've exhausted the gay jokes and then you reel off a bunch of homosexual crap?

Well to be honest not inculding those points in a list of reasons why not to get one over pretty much any other 90 to 00s hatchback seemed silly

besides I said that bit at the beginning so this thread could turn off from pages of 'omg ka is well gay' posts and we could start recommending a car that is sensible

Quick unrelated question to ask you guys didnt wanna start a new thread so.

How much would you expect to be looking at to buy a used 1999 vauxhall corsa 1.4 16v CDX with 50000miles in good condition for ? Does 1900GBP sound a bit high for a used car dealer ?

Yes and don't buy a corsa please, let some good come from this thread
I bought a 1998 fiesta with 52k miles 2 an a half years ago with full mot and tax for £1500 quid
thing is corsa are good until they put you in a ditch

the 1.4 is better than the 1.2 but I think the fiesta is still faster
either way it handles better an IMO feels less dated
IMO that cars worth 1200 considering I bought mine from a dealer and had warrenty

EDIT:wait is a CDX a diesel?

Well, a Corsa isn't going to chuck you in a ditch. It'll just be total crap. CDX is a trim level.

I paid £900 for my 1998 1.4 Fiesta which also included a cambelt change, all the cars you seem to come up with are very expensive.

When you say put in a ditch is the handling that bad ?
