i can connect my pc to the tv fine using a vga cable and a dvi adapter, but i just bought a hdmi cable and a mini hdmi cable, and they both fit fine but the picture quality is far worse that the vga cable and the resolution is all messed up ? any help please is much appreciated, btw my graphics card is a gtx 560 and i have a full hd 1920x1080 monitor.

Are you seeing a black border around the edge of your tv screen, as if the pc desktop isn't quite filling it?
If so, you need to user overscan (nvidia control panel) to fill the screen. You'll then find that the resolution 'looks' a lot better too.

What do you mean? Have you tried what i've suggested and you're saying it's made no difference?
Was there a black border around the desktop edges?

Have you definitely gone into nvidia control panel?

right click desktop > nvidia control panel > Display > Adjust dekstop size and position > look at the scaling settings adjust if/as necessary.

You may need to alter something on your TV, check the manual or online for that.
 
not sure tbh. It may be more of a tv setting. I don't know much about it but remember someone else had a similar issue and another users suggestion of checking pixel mapping settings worked for them.
Personally i've had the same issues as you twice, and each time the overscan settings cured the problems.
