Heyas all, justa quick query as I'm doing something I've not done before and don't wanna make a mistake and make things harder!

I have my 300gb drive as c: d: and e: C is windows xp, d is vista, and e is storage, have now bought a 30gb SSD and want to install on that, I'll primarily use it for XP, and maybe put 7 on the d partition in the end, as I'll probably stick with xp for 90% of the time, just feels right still!

My quetion is, how to do things, for now I want to keep xp where it is, as well as installing it on the SSD as I have so much crap I need to organise, but for now i really want:

C: xp (SATA port 0)
d: vista
e: storage
ssd: xp (Booting) (Sata port 2)

Once I have it all cleared I'll merge c and d (Whats the best way to do that? delete both partitions and make one logical partition from the space?) and put 7 on that as a dual boot with xp again.

Does this all sound feasbale? Cause the last thing I wanna do is not be able to boot either xp partition and bugger it all up!

Any ideas? :D

Only way I can think of doing what you are suggesting is:

Disconnect Current Drives
SSD as SATA0
Install XP / 7
Reconnect other drives to SATA 1 / 2 if you need to access the information

If you use RAID then you're going to have issues.

The reason for doing the above is so you don't mess around with the MBR or accidentally format the wrong drive.

Personally I think you are looking to over complicate the matter and really should just have your SSD as C: with your secondary operating system as D: (if you need it) and Data as E:

Yeah, thats actually the sanity inducing slap that I need :)

SSD to sata 0, install OS, copy what else I need, format what was c/d, merge and go from there, sorted.

Thankyou sir, sometimes it really DOES take others to state the blatently obvious! lol
