Running speed tests connects me at about 19mb, this is on wired, switching to wireless sees the speed drop to about 11mb. I literally have the laptop about 1ft away from the router when running the wireless speed test so I am pretty sure the wireless cannot be getting a load of interference which would cause it to drop 8mb.
I rang up Sky, not expecting much, they advised me that wireless is never as fast as wired and it is usual to drop so much speed. I pointed out my last network was had a Cable 20mb connection and I would receive 20mb over the wireless. Sky 'tech guy' suggested changing the chanel, I have tried 4 or 5 different channels, all yield the same results.
It is a Sky Router that only supports G mode but even that should be plenty for a 20mb connection, is it a case of the router being seriously rubbish or is there some massive interference? The wireless signal is full bars aka Excellent.
Any help would be appreciated!
