Steam folder over 80GB and highly modded servers and config files... I see the point.

Yeah. Right. I have a press account and even I havent downloaded 80gig of stuff that Iwanted to keep. The only way I can see that is if you keep all your games "just in case" or run a custom server with gajillion maps

ibot hl2 and the cinematic mod alone are 20gb

Wasn't aimed at me right? I am talking about a single game and didn't literally mean it was the time difference just that there was a considerable one.

no no, aimed at ibot. and agreeing with skeeter:) and you , i guess lol

So miller is lying too then?

I have lots of games. And yes, they are kept 'just in case' so that I can go 'hmm, i fancey playing this' and can then play it, rather than having to wait or it to download. It would be like having all your games on Cd, but keeping the CDs 100 miles away just because it means you dont have to have them on your shelf...

The main reason however is savegames and configs. They are always there.

Face it iBot, as usual, you are wrong.

And a lot of people have download limits...

He seems to be, cinematic mod is 2gig download :/

i backup all my saves and configs, broadband is fastest enough to download a game slightly slower than installing off a dvd.

Yeah but they are normally to big to care about

God forbid people keep games on their hard drives between installs rather than just redownload gigabytes of data for no good reason. Yeah, good one on that there iBot. You really got him.

My Steam folder is ~60GB, and I've only recently started paying for games..

I'd like to read some of your press stuff, it'd be rather amusing :p

For someone who thinks downloading a game is faster than copying files off a CD, who has no idea that other people have a different computer setup to him, who thinks broadband is cheap enough and fully unrestricted to allow everyone to just redoanload gigs of data again and again, and who has never heard of file compression... I wouldnt hold out much hope on them being anything but rubbish.

that is if he even has a press account and isnt just throwing out random made up lines to backup his stupid arguments.

no it isnt? it's a 5gb download and decompresses to about 15gb. 20gb all together with all the hl2 files installed.

wrong again ibot.

link to the site then? The only one i could find had it for 2 gig and a v7 for 4 or something.

Most people have 8mb broadband with more than generous limits.

v7 is 4.95gb. google it ibot, its not hard. or search for the thread on here.

the point is, ibot, that apart from the cinematic mod which is a 5gb download and decompresses to 15gb, the rest of that 75gb (thats 60g, ibot) is ALL downloaded material. all 60gb of it. even if i managed to download it all at 20mb/sec (never going to happen), it'd still take hours.

Shocker as iBot manages to be a **** in yet another thread. I honestly don't know what the hell we have to do to get you banned. You bring nothing to this forum.
