Quick question, about SSD vs RAID 0

what is your current RAID 0 setup? and have you got any stats / figures on it?

Maybe try HD Tach

this.

The most important figures there are 'Average Read' and 'Random access'

To cut the long story - A decent SSD like the Crucial C300 or OCZ Vertex 2E will KILL your current raid setup.

C300 has read speeds of over 300 Mb/s! and Random Access of less than 1ms!

...and to give you a bit more of a comparison, just HOW FAST SSD's really are - I have two 150Gb Western Digital Velociraptors (10,000RPM) disks in a RAID 0 setup.

My Average read is 178Mb/s and Random Access is 7.2ms

Exactly. You have to remember that most operations on computers rely on frequently and rapidly accessing relatively small chunks of data. There is simply no touching SSDs on this front with any mechanical hard drive.
