Quick question on the Gigabyte GA_P35_DS4

yeah wish i got one instead.

btw is this a genuine yate loon fan? This is the one that turned up (OEM) and it doesnt have any "yate loon" logo or nothing on it...the other side is the same but with black.

Those look like imitations, just checked on mine and they all have the name sticker and the support struts are flat.

I'd question the source if bought from a store.

Mine are all D12SL-12's and they have round struts like the one in the top photo, closed in corners and a Yate Loon sticker on both sides of the fan.

What does it sound like? If it's noisy, then definitely send it back. Contact me on my trust e-mail if you like.

I'd edit the link ;) If you have any doubts at all, send it back and ask for one with Yate-Loon badging. I can't see anyone reasonable refusing that request.

Ive put it on 1.325v

100% workload on tat...

TT fan on 1150 RPM
Akasa amber exhaust fan...dunno but turned right down on Zalman - its loud on max.

with the yate loon in the TT it gives pretty much the same results as the TT fan (but i actually think the TT fan is quieter..)

results for both..

tat 73 73
wiz2k7 58 59
everest 59 59

I dont get why tat reports it much higher than the other two? is it just cause its intel and they dont want u to rma it so they just add 15 to it?

if the other two are accurate then its well below 70 and theres nothing to worry about?

I tried putting the YL fan to replace the amber exhaust fan on the back, but I dont think theres anyway of putting these Acousti Arrowhead Fan Mounts through - not long enough to grab through the hole so I screwed em in a bit of a dodge job just to see. The amber is quieter I think anyway at lowest rpm.

PCW2K7 and Everest are reporting lower temperatures because they are using the wrong TCase figure. The Intel tool is correct, and it has nothing to do with them not wanting you to RMA it :D

The temperatures are fine. Try loading your system with Orthos or Folding@Home SMP as a more realistic test. TAT is probably the most extreme heat generator of all the stress tests. TAT is an intel tool designed to allow Intel engineers and support staff to thrash chips almost to destruction. I wouldn't recommend you use TAT load test often.

As for the fan, they move different amounts of air for the same amount of noise, but without knowing the other details of your cooling system, I couldn't comment further.
