Quick question - Why blur numberplate on photo?

Normally I don't do it, but sometimes I get alittle paranoid about it and do it...

Plus, whos going to nick a bog standard Saab? :p

How about a local thief who recognises the brickwork/building style and just needs an address to go on after that?

Who happens to view an internet forum? Yea right. More chance of him spotting your flash wheels in Tesco.

Either way, it's better not to take the risk, especially when it only takes about 2 seconds.

I couldnt care less

:D

car is registered to an address miles away so even if someone wanted to nick it they would have a hard time :)

Exactly what? They can't get your address from your plate easily.

It's a hell of a lot easier than you might think :( .

I blank my plates because A) The less people see the plate the less chance of it being cloned (even on an old rover). And B) Because as AGW said, if I were to spend a large sum of money on performance/ICE mods then I'd rather the thieves discover them by chance, or during a 'real world' encounter than have the opportunity to trace my address from a gleeful post on a motors forum, which any clever, or professional car thief will have quite an easy time doing.

but posting your extensive list of mods on a forum and showing pics which will generally be unique to your area, is not a bad thing?

surely anyone who is local to you and sees the car and mod list, will be just as interested, regardless of the number plate.

in essence, all you who are worried, should not be posting spec lists online at all.

Not to mention (and I know I'll get laughed at for this), but the demand for Rover Turbo engines is quite high. The amount of Coupe and 220 Turbo's pinched last year was alarming. A few were found... minus the running gear.

lolz, jk;)

I blank mine because everyone else does too..

If I was cloning a car for things like congestion charge/parking fraud, I'd much rather clone one that lived the other end of the country rather than copy one at my local Sainsburys where it might get recognised by the owner (or their friends).

It is being a bit paranoid blurring out your plates, but I do it 'just in case'. Saying that I wouldn't care if someone posted a pic of my car with plates showing though, some people get really anal about that.

I blank mine because it takes 30 seconds to do, and so even if its a small risk, I figure its worth it. I feel particularly at risk because of the kind of car though I suppose.
