Quick question

probably not no, but is it worth the risk...??

they could check, it depends on the size / type of the firm you are applying to

By the time they have a P45 they will have offered me a job so I'm guessing that won't matter too much.

References don't include the current salary, surely?

Lying on your application form will undoubtedly be grounds for dismissal.

Ok, that's what I thought. Not a boasty post or anything, I don't want to be seen as a tart, but the job I am going for offers a salary over 50% more than what I'm currently on.

Realistically would they care though? Just in case I'm thinking adding on the K's could off-set that somewhat.

True, though they already have my CV and have offered me an interview in the next few days. The agency I working through stated that it's just for HR purposes.

Well then tell them you'd rather not say.

HR won't provide details of your salary to your manager or whoever interviewed you so you're unlikely to get caught. I lied my ass off but if they said anything I could just say I was factoring in expenses and other stuff.

It shouldn't do.

When I applied to rent a house the letting agency contacted my employer to confirm that my salary matches what I'd told them it was and my employer had to ask my permission before they could give out any information. So I doubt they'd tell anyone without you knowing about it.

do you have to tell them what you currently earn ?

what i mean is nowadays you dont even have to tell them your age because of silly discrimination acts but you have to tell them your old salary ?

Exactly and well that's another thing, what purpose does it actually serve?

Just to offer me less money, I guess.

I think I'll round it up slightly, but not massively.

It merely says on the employer history section:

"Current or most recent salary/benefits".

Sorry to keep posting without reply, but they're asking for -

- age
- faith
- sexual orientation

Errr... not really entirely sure what any of that has to do with anything.

Though hats off to the people who check the "transgendered man/woman". LOL. :D

In these days of "equal opportunities employers" there's some things you just have to do if you REALLY want the job ;)

Its generally a monitoring thing, rather than part of the selection process. Most companies are fine with you leaving that part blank if you so desire.
