My current drive is really full and my windows is really slow

if I get a new sata II 500gb drive would it be possible to install windows on the new one and use my current drive as a data storage.?
I never done this before and I am really not sure if it will work,

If you mean what I think you mean then yes....

Say you have a 250GB now. You can buy a 500GB, install windows onto it and then have two hard drives in your PC using the 250GB to keep all your files on that you don't use every day... I.E, Music, ISO's, work etc

I gots 3 250GB in mine and as you can see from the above picture. First one has windows on it and the others store my data

Simplistically

  • Turn off PC
  • Fit new HDD in free internal bay
  • Cable up appropriately
  • Power on PC
  • Launch Disk Management (right click on My Computer and pick manage)
  • Locate new HDD, should be labelled Disk1
  • Right click in free space, select New Volume
  • Ensure Quick Format is selected in pop up, hit OK
  • Job done
