Hey guys,

I am currently running one 103SJ Spintpoint F3 1TB 7,2krpm HDD and i was wondering if it would be possible that if i bought two seagate barracuda 500gb hard drives i would be able to put them in RAID 0 for everything i choose to install on those drives, mainly games and media.

For example,

Spintpoint = OS Drive, all programmes installed here, etc.
RAID Drives = All games (incl. steam), films, music, itunes, etc. here.

Would this work? + would i need to reformat my pc or just move stuff over because the spinpoint is and still will be my OS drive.

This would work, you would need to just move your stuff over to the new RIAD array as the OS drive is untouched.

It's do-able but your current OS install probably won't have the RAID controller driver installed so you'll need to do some monkeying to get the system running with the SATA controller in RAID mode before creating the array.

Once the array is created you'll need to re-install games etc which have registry settings that need changed. There are guides out there for moving your steam folder without having to re-download it though.

Media can simply be moved from one drive to another.

Okay thanks guys :D. I'm running Windows 7 Professional 64-bit and a crosshair III formula motherboard so im sure the RAID should work, just don't know how to set it up so i'll have to find a guide :P.

As for the registry entries that will need changing that might be a problem unless i just uninstall everything that is going onto the RAID array and just reinstall them and then scan my pc to fix broken reg keys :P

I also hope you have a backup of Films, Music etc, RAID 0 arrays are not the most reliable for Storage.
