Quick SATA Cable Question

I know this is probably a really dumb question but can anyone confirm whether or not a SATA 3 cable will work with a SATA 2 drive/motherboard?

yh it should work but won't get the SATA 3 speed

Thanks, I'm just looking for some black SATA cables and can only find SATA 3 ones so that's great

They will work fine. Using two SATA3 cables for my DVD drives on a SATA2 controller. Not so much a colour issue, I chose them because they were rounded for better cable routing.
