Can a Ultra 320 15,000rpm drive be used to replace a ultra 160 scsi drive in a Raid Array?

pretty sure yes, as with most computer gear its normally backwords compatoble, ie if it fits then chances are it will work all be it at the limited speed.

Yes, and vice-versa, any LVD drive. You'd only have problems with a non-LVD drive (before Ultra 2)

Good point. I usually create RAID arrays at 99% of the disk size to cater for that, typically only a lesson one learns by experience :)

Just make sure it's the same/larger capacity or you'll have to resize the whole array (can be a pain when drives differ is size by a few bytes  )

Had that already on this server, it has two RAID arrays, one for OS and one for data, the data one had a failing disk, a 36GB scsi, so I ordered one, it came in 1MB too small and the RAID array wouldn't take it obviously :( took me ages to figure out why :-p
the OS array is on Ultra 160 with 9GB disks (old server running Unix :( ) and has a failing disk.... Only another six months of this pos server
