LoL, now come on, can't be that hard to count when there's only two numbers involved... Just proved my system wasn't dodgy 'cos its working fine with a different graphics card in. I will accept I had a faulty 4870, and I'm not going to say the 260 is better than 4870 'cos they beat each other in different games/setups which you probably already knew but still love to mouth crap which frankly is up to you:p

And hey Raven, if you PM me your Crysis bench results or 3D mark compare links I'm happy to do same... which even if mine were greater would probably mean I have a lesser system/gfx card; no?

Guess your 4870 was faulty or conflicting with something else in your system.
Thanks for your reply, I totally agree. Its all sorted now so I'm just happy about that.

Worked with literally over 200 ATI 4870's in the last month and 0 problems, worked with similar number of GTX260/280's and no issues either, on a whole magnitude of rig setups.

Your 4870 was faulty, or there was a problem in installation. Sorry to say.

I got my BFG 260 MAXCORE OC today and so far I have to say I'm fairly happy with it - the memory OCs like mad - almost 3GHz - the core OCs pretty well but I think I need better cooling to max it out and its very very quiet - undermax load the fan hits around 45% (74C) and I can't hear it above the PSU.

Feel free to post up your vantage and crysis results in this thread, ill do like wise.;)

Congrats Raven, you have the single fastest 4870 on the OcUK table if you beat this:p

Nice result Rroff! Could hit 60 with OC? Only thing I dislike about the 216 version is the price and whereby only real benefit will be seen in games like Crysis as the 260 eats pretty much anything else

ZomG - theres a 30 page thread on AMD forum about people with same problem I had and a lot with the same Sapphire version!!! http://forums.amd.com/game/messagev...d=98860&STARTPAGE=1&FTVAR_FORUMVIEWTMP=Linear

The amount of pages is irrelevant as that can be user defined the amount of individual users that have the problem is what counts & where else better to find them than on AMD,s gaming site
One thing i did notice is that they are all using Intel set-ups.

Just stating the problem exists and is a known issue and that my system is not faulty like some fanyboys claimed has it could never be the 4870's fault. Not saying its widespread problem but as affected a fair amount of people if you google it.

Regardless if I did have it working, my 260 is out performing it and overclocks massively for the same price;)

No one said that the fault did not exist & i see post here by others saying that you may have a faulty 4870.

You had a faulty 4870 so you cant judge how well it could have run if it had not been faulty on your setup. ;)

Well I guess not, but the problems were isolated and based on my latest Crysis bench, it's still higher than any other single 4870 so thats a good enough indication for me

After you overclocked the knackers of it, crysis is well known to be optimized for NV cards more so than ATI, most other games fair better with the 4870, either way you still cant play it at very high settings DX10.:p

Yep crysis is a well balanced fare comparison of all makes of gfx cards & if a cards beats another in crysis it will do so for all games...not

But if that game is the most important game to you then hey why not use a brand of card that it was optimised for.

I have read through the AMD forum thread & it looks like allot of problems have been fixed at the end through various means & bios updates.

Well I can play it DX10 Very High just it obviously wouldnt be great, then again neither can a single 4870 so dunno where that comment was going?

Actually will overclock further if you increase the fan speed which isn't a problem after hearing the 4870:o

Yes, why should I have to jump through numerous hoops after paying premium price for a graphics card. True, Crysis alone isn't a fair comparison but generally its a good indication. Even where the 4870 has a chance of beating the 260, the FPS is so high it means nothing when playing with Vsync. Only reason for my initial upgrade was so I could play Crysis, Warhead and farcry 2 when its out, everything else bar Assassin's creed stayed happily on a constant 60FPS...

Crysis is total joke for a comparison of anything.

I didn't say that you have to jump through hoops i,m just saying that others got the problem fixed while you did not after you said you tried everything in your original thread I've posted everywhere, searched everything clearly not at the time but your putting great effort in now :D

And Rroff, I maybe wrong but IMO there is noway you card can beat a heavily overclocked original 260, with stock clocks, i don't care if its got an extra 24 processors, they don't make that much of a difference.

Edit..Well maybe it is correct, noticed your still on XP which gives a good few more FPS than Vista in the crysis bench.
