Quick virtualbox question

Whenever I start it up it says it's not the same version...

If I upgrade can I keep my virtual machines or do I have to start afresh?

I would assume, you're able to keep the Virtual machines as they have a image saved on your hard drive in VirtualBox will just read from those files. If you're really worried about loosing them, you could always just backup those files?

I'm not that worried about the VM's, I upgraded in the end, and it said it needed to convert some files, it did it and it all appears to work.
