Quidco

quidco is becoming too hit and miss lately.. You have to cross your fingers and hope it tracks most of the time.

I wouldn't recommend them if there is an alternative like topcashback.

Ive been using my debit card online for years and never had a problem. Also i have a couple of debit cards and can transfer money to either account or my savings accounts instantly online within minutes. So i just put enough money in the account for the items i want to purchase. So if anyone ever did manage to hack my account all they would get is a few quid. Which the bank would return to the account.

Cant see any possible way that using a debit card online can be foolish?

As a few have already mentioned but most have missed - Quidco make lot more than just the £5 member fee. They only pass on some of the commission to customers; the rest they keep themselves.

My girl friend started using it a couple of years ago and has made about £1k back.

Some highlights being - £70 back for switching to a cheaper Gas and Electricity supplier, £100 back for our Car Insurance (it was also a cheap deal), 10% back on our new TV last year and 10% back from the hotels on our trip to Miami and Key West.

That's not true. Quoted from their site...

Why choose Quidco

* 100% cashback – we fund Quidco with an annual £5 fee from your cashback

and

We pay 100% of this commission into your bank account

Two ways:

1) They have non commision advertising links on their site, if you click one you get nothing for it (These are usualy for companies not listed)

2) Affiliate payouts can be tiered, eg if you get 100 people to join Vodafone then Vodafone may increase the rate or give Top Cash Back a bonus for performing well.

Second is more of a guess though.

I don't get the quidco topcashback preference thing, I have an account with both and use which ever pays the best rate taking into account the £5 fee. why be loyal to one over the other when it should simply be a matter of who gives you the most money.

I lost a friend because of quidco. He was buying a new mobile and quidco had deals of £150 cashback. Which I was willing to split with him 50/50 (or even more for him). In the end he backed out as he doesn't trust them, thought they would spam him etc. Turns out he doesn't even buy things on the internet or on his card as he's so paranoid. Loser.

I earnt about £500 in the last 13 months to date.

Prefer topcashback, no £5 fee. Similar rates and they track just as well as Quidco.

Me too. They'll also match any other cashback and they operate a top up system that gives you a bit extra.

My account is now over £700 for about thirty months use. The bulk being from car/home insurance.

Months, but if it did not track and you had to put a ticket in, much longer and even then its less likley to ever payout.

You allways have to be very carefull to visit the cashback site last to keep the cookies valid.

Best to do all research using your normal browser then use a second (like IE) to visit the cashback site then make the purchase.

A good way to get going is to take up the no spend offers. Lovefilm is a good one. You get £15 for trying their (very good) service for a month. Had no problems cancelling either.
