Quiet(ish) modelling amp required.

The Line out is used for hooking up to say a computers sound card, in line in or mic, i sometimes use it with my pc for recording. You may also have a speaker out, its for external cabs. dont try using headphones on it as it may damage the amp, i did stupidly and only got mono through my phones, but luckily i did no damage. Still a fantastic bit of kit, no?

Yeah I know what it's for but apparently the same connection is used for speaker out and recording which lead me to believe it would carry a proper audio signal, nowt happening on headphones though.

And yes, it's fantastic :)

If I want headphones on I'll just use Guitar Rig or Amplitube.

Out of interest, what happens if you plug a 5watt amp into a cab? does it sound lost or will it just be louder?

Anyone know?

:eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek:

Somebody please break the internet and stop me!!!

Hey,

since a few of you have the Fender can I ask does it handle pedals well?
Sweetloaf, I see a few in your pic, any thoughts?

Thanks.

It sounds great with the ME-50, I only tend to use the Blues Driver or TS serttings though. It actually handles pedals much better than my AC30 which sounds horrible with the ME-50.

Thank you.
That's what I had read but you can never trust Internet folk outside of OcUK :p.

One thing to keep in mind is that the Super Champ XD has a dedicated un-voiced clean channel I think so it's a bit more versatile than the Vibro Champ XD and is probably even better with pedals, it's too loud for what I wanted though.

Extra 10w too.
I had seen that from the specs above but I didn't think about the un-voiced part.
Going to have a go in the shop this weekend. Thanks.

Another owner of the super champ, wild bit of kit it is too.
Jimbo is right, they go from silent to loud by hardly touching the control, the clean channel has a bit more play in it though.
Still, it sounds so good and has a great little control system. Well laid out, functional and sounds brilliant.
FX pedals work a treat in the voiced channel too, Muff, Boss delay, suppressor, although I'll stick to the clean for my own FX.

Thanks for the heads up on this, brilliant bit of kit.
Only fault was I had to put a UK plug on it myself.

Glad you like it, my Vibro King is like a little box of Hendrix and SRV without the cost and volume.

Anyone got any views on the Peavey Windsor Studio? It has a built in attenuator direct line out, effects loop and costs £190 I've heard that it is a little trebly but I would possibly change out the tubes, swap the speaker and/or run it into my cab if need be.

Anyone tried one?

I've seen the youtube clips but they aren't much help.

Forget it and get a valveking.

Nah, it's a good amp but I'm trying to build up a collection of quirky, cheap recording amps, the Windsor seems to fit the bill, have you actually tried one?

Yup. Tried one those, a Tiny Terror and a Valveking. The VK head cost me £200 and I found it to be far superior to both. It's also 100w, but it's pretty versatile.

With the PODs its really a matter of finding the right settings, much like an amp. I have seen a few people plug in switch on and claim they're crap but if you spend a bit of time and to get the sounds you want, they're hard to beat.

Ok maybe crap is a little extreme, it just isn't the same as a proper valve amp. I guess you could get close if you run a Pod into a decent solid state amp but then you are upping the cost again.

DM - Playing through a pod is nothing like playing through a proper valve amp. You must know that?

Absolutely 1000% but the poster said "I'm trying to build up a collection of quirky, cheap recording amps" and the major problem is recording the sound from that speaker onto a recording.
Sometimes you can throw an SM57 in front and capture what you want, other times you need £1000s of different mic's.
My mate has got a Fender Twin 65 and TSL601 he uses on stage.
The other week he tried to capture his SRV sound in a studio and after ages the engineer put him through a POD.
And yes, the engineer could have been crap.
